Key Features of the Equality Policy

Equal Pay Certification
In spring 2019, RU became the first university in Iceland to receive Equal Pay Certification, affirming its commitment to eliminating gender-based pay gaps. The certification verifies that:
- Decisions on pay are free from gender bias.
- The university’s pay system meets the requirements of the Icelandic Equal Pay Standard (ÍST 85:2012).
The certification was awarded after comprehensive audits conducted by BSI Iceland, the local branch of the British Standards Institution (BSI). Annual audits of the pay system have been conducted since 2016.
In 2020, RU also received the Gold Seal of Pay Equity from PwC, recognizing organizations where gender pay differences are under 3.5%.
RU’s commitment to equality ensures that all employees receive fair pay for comparable and equally valuable work, regardless of gender.
