Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the latest book in the series to get the illustrated edition treatment from Scholastic, following 2023’s release of The Prisoner of Azkaban. The newest edition features illustrations from Karl James Mountford and interactive elements inspired by scenes from the book.
The book was announced yesterday and will be published on Oct. 14. The new edition is available to pre-order today, and follows the recent release of a Potter-inspired Guess Who? game.
The book’s illustrator, Karl James Mountford, told People, “It’s wonderful, surreal and a little bit terrifying to illustrate the interactive edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. With big and extremely talented footsteps to follow, it’s an honor to be a part of this magical world and have the opportunity to work on a story that I love so much.”
The “big footsteps” Mountford is referring to are Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, aka MinaLima, who handled the illustration for the first three books in the Scholastic set. In an Instagram post from August, MinaLima explained that they were not commissioned for the fourth installment in the series, adding, “It was a privilege to reimagine J.K. Rowling’s first three Harry Potter books in the style of our illustrated fairytales, and reach the hearts of Potter fans worldwide.”
In the fourth book, Harry is forced to compete in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament after his name is placed in the titular Goblet of Fire without his knowledge. The film adaptation stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, with Robert Pattinson appearing as Cedric Diggory.
