EAD - Empresa de Arquivo e Documentação, S.A. has completed the merger by incorporation of Papiro, S.A., integrating all assets, operations and customer portfolio into a single organizational structure. The transaction, formalized on April 15, 2025, is expected to translate into an estimated 25% increase in annual revenue. The Papiro brand will remain active and autonomous within the new business configuration.
This merger aims to simplify the group's organization, increase internal efficiency, strengthen market responsiveness and consolidate EAD's leading position in the document management sector in Portugal.
Papiro, founded in 2001 within the Trivalor Group and associated with AIP since 2022, is headquartered in Benavente and has more than 100 employees. The company has been part of the EAD Group since October 2020, maintaining its activities under independent management since then. Over the years, it has evolved from an operation focused on the custody of physical files to a company specialized in technological solutions to support digital transformation, physical and digital conservation of information, process automation and secure destruction of documents.
In 2024, Papiro reported operational indicators such as 5 million archived folders, more than 1,250 tons of documents destroyed and recycled, 10 thousand invoices/day with automatic data extraction, 20 thousand volumes delivered per year with personalized service and more than 2,000 user licenses of the VALDOC Enterprise platform.
The merger operation does not imply layoffs or changes in the services provided. EAD, which operates in Portugal and Spain, estimates revenue growth of around 25% in 2025. The integration also reinforces the group's presence in the Iberian market, with operations in both countries, where it owns the companies Delete and DID Confidencial.
EAD, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Palmela, Setúbal, announced in March an investment of 1.5 million euros in Porto, with the acquisition of two new warehouses and the hiring of 44 employees, reinforcing its presence in the North of Portugal and Galicia. In 2024, it registered a total of 1700 customers, 38 million digitized documents and 590 tons of recycled files.
The Papiro brand will maintain operational autonomy, continuing to offer solutions such as management of physical and digital mailrooms, dematerialization of processes, secure destruction of documents and express deliveries.
Daniel Alves, Director of the Papiro Business Unit, emphasizes the importance of this merger: "We want to continue to value the Papiro brand, recognizing its trajectory and the trust that the market has always given it. This merger allows us to give it scale, resources and development capacity within a solid group."
