Blue-Green Algae at Lake Lorraine

The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County has issued a cautionary advisory following the presence of blue-green algae near the west shore of Lake Lorraine in Deltona, confirmed on April 21. Residents and visitors are urged to avoid swimming, wading, or any contact with the water in affected areas. Pets and livestock should also be kept away. Blue-green algae may produce toxins that pose health risks to people, animals, and the environment-even before toxins are confirmed. Water sample testing is underway.
