Indianapolis, IN - Congressman Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) toured the USPS Indianapolis distribution hub to seek answers to the ongoing package delivery delays. Rep. Shreve was offered a firsthand look inside the massive facility, after hearing from countless constituents and spearheading a letter from the Indiana Congressional delegation demanding action from the Postmaster General.
According to local reports, package delivery delays at the distribution hub on Brookville Road began last year. Rep. Shreve has continued his efforts to hold the USPS accountable. This week, he toured the Indy distribution hub to better understand its operations and the causes of the delivery problems. He met with senior hub managers and USPS officials who came in from Washington for his visit.
Congressman Shreve said, "Too many Hoosiers have not received packages that were processed through this facility. I got a look behind-the-scenes. I share the frustrations of my fellow Hoosiers. I'm on the ground holding leadership accountable. I'm fighting to focus pressure on our USPS to restore service levels to their targeted levels."
Adam, a constituent in Johnson County, said, "I'm one of many who were affected by the mail distribution debacle in Indy. My package was 'lost' for over two months. Thank you to Congressman Shreve's office for helping locate and deliver my package, even though these extra steps should not be necessary. USPS must make changes and do better. I appreciate having the Congressman look into the problems at this facility because they have been going on for far too long."
A constituent in Greenwood said, "These delayed packages are causing me late fees, interest charges, and wasted time. When I reach out to the USPS, all I get is an apology for the inconvenience. I called into Rep. Shreve's office asking him to fix these continuing problems at the Indy distribution center. I'm glad to see he's listening to my concerns and addressing the situation."
