WINDHAM – Jean Margaret Williams, 73, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2025, in Windham, Maine. Born on Oct. 6, 1951, Jean lived a life defined by generosity, faith, and a steadfast commitment to helping others.
After graduating from Victory College in Tulsa, Okla. she began her career in the travel industry with Emery Travel Agency and later continued at American Express Travel. Jean’s passion for travel extended beyond her profession—she explored the world with friends and embraced new cultures with warmth and curiosity. Later in life, she found fulfillment in service through her work with the Salvation Army. Even after retirement, she remained active as a volunteer there and at the Vineyard Food Pantry, offering her time and compassion to those in need.
A woman of deep Christian faith, Jean was known among those who knew her as a prayer warrior and for her profound knowledge of scripture. Her spiritual devotion provided strength not only to herself but also to many around her.
Jean held a special place in her heart for the people of Mexico. For years, she organized Christmas gift collections from friends, coworkers, and family across New England to send to Acapulco. These donations brought joy to many children at an orphanage there—a testament to Jean’s tireless dedication.
She also found joy in everyday pleasures. Jean loved plants and gardening and enjoyed attending craft fairs. She shared her home with her beloved cat, Sadie.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her sister Susan (Morrison) Williams; nephews Keith Holmes (Lori Ann), Craig Hillman (Susan), Douglas Hillman (Gretchen Harvey), and Alan Hillman (Shelley); great-niece Rebecca Holmes; several cousins; and many more great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harrison Williams and Rena (Morrison) Williams; and her sister Barbara (Williams) Holmes.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Vineyard Church of Greater Portland, 715 Bridgton Road, Westbrook, Maine.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
