The Downriver League’s baseball schedule is nearing its end and on Thursday, a couple of nearby rival schools met up for the second time this season as Dearborn Edsel Ford made the short trip down Pelham Road to visit Allen Park.
Both teams were hoping to continue some recent momentum with the state playoffs getting underway in a couple of weeks. Edsel Ford had won six of its eight games played in the month of May, while Allen Park was looking to make it three straight wins following what was previously a three-game losing skid.
Behind a big rally midway through, the host Jags were able to pull away for a 5-2 win and avenge an early-season loss to the Thunderbirds.
