- Capacity is increasing at the fastest rate of 6% at Kunming vs July 2025.

- China Southern Airlines is the busiest airline, representing 15% of the domestic market with 12.1m seats in July 2025.
- Following it in second place is China Eastern Airlines, holding 14% share of the domestic market with 11.4m seats this month.
- Spring Airlines continues to make the biggest increase in capacity vs last year with a 13% increase in domestic capacity vs July 2024.
- Juneyao Airlines reduced capacity this month by 8% vs last year.

Which are the Most Flown Airline Routes in China?
- Shanghai Hongqiao to Shenzhen (SHA - SZX) has overtaken Beijing Capital to Shanghai Hongqiao (PEK - SHA) as China's busiest route this month with 613k seats, 7% more capacity than July 2024.
- Capacity on the Beijing Capital Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao (PEK-SHA) route declined by 7%, taking it to second place, with 594k seats in July 2025.
- The greatest capacity reduction was on the Hangzhou to Shenzhen (HGH-SZN) route, declining by 14% vs last year.
- Capacity on the Chengdu to Shenzhen (CTU-SZX) and Beijing Capital to Shenzhen (PEK-SZN) routes both increased at the fastest rate of 10% this month.

- Beijing remains the busiest city this month with 5.5m seats through the 2 main airports, representing 7% of the market.
- Capacity at Shanghai, the second busiest city with 4.8m seats, represents 6% share of the market.
- Capacity at the city of Kunming increased at the fastest rate of 6%.

How Much of Chinese Airline Capacity is Domestic?
- Domestic capacity accounts for 84% of all seats to, from, and within China this month, with 79.4m seats.
- Overall capacity increased by 4% vs last year, with domestic capacity increasing by 2% and international capacity by 13%.
*As of July 2025, international capacity is reported on a two-way basis (previously one-way departing).

Which Countries do Chinese Travellers Visit?
- Japan is the busiest international market with 1.3m seats. It has now recovered and exceeded 2019 levels, with a 40% increase in capacity vs last year. The increase in capacity reflects renewed bilateral travel momentum as airlines reconnect post-COVID, backed by policy support and robust leisure demand.
- The Republic of Korea is the next busiest international market with 960k seats, up 16% vs July 2024.
- International capacity increased at the fastest rate of 57% to Viet Nam, followed by Japan by 40% vs July 2024.
- In contrast, international capacity continues to reduce by 27% to Thailand vs last year.

The table shows domestic capacity by Chinese Province for this month and the same month last year.
China's Largest Provinces for Air Capacity
- The largest Province for scheduled domestic airline capacity remains Guangdong Province, accounting for 8.3m seats which is 10% of all scheduled departing capacity in July 2025. This represents a 4% increase in capacity compared with July 2024.
- Guangdong has 2.8m more seats than Beijing province, the second biggest province with 5.5m seats.
- Capacity increased at the fastest rate in Xinjiang Province again this month, increasing by 9% vs last year.
