Project X Water Technologies has developed an advanced dialysis process for waste-water treatment targeted towards the oil and gas sector.

The UBC research team innovates new ways to reduce and repurpose carbon emissions. The technology aims to convert CO2 and wastewater, produced in the fracking process, into desalinated water and valuable chemicals.

The latter of the two reusable products is their competitive advantage over similar desalination and industrial waste-water treatment technologies.

Producers do not need to ship additional chemicals and can significantly reduce their fresh water consumption for fracking fluid and the valuable chemicals are created from CO2 waste. This process helps decrease both the economic and environmental footprint.
