Pahalgam Terror Attack: PM Modi Briefed On Situation At High-Level Meet In Delhi After Saudi Arabia Trip

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took stock of situation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam where 26 people lost their lives in a terror attack. PM Modi arrived in Delhi early on Wednesday morning after he curtailed his Saudi Arabia trip following the terrorist attack. He was originally scheduled to return to India on Wednesday night.
Immediately on his arrival, PM Modi took a briefing meeting at the Delhi airport with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to discuss the situation.

A meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is scheduled to be held at 11 am today.
Terrorists opened fire at a popular tourist spot near Pahalgam town on Tuesday afternoon, killing mostly holidaymakers from other states, in what is the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019. Some foreign nationals too were among the victims. Several injured people are receiving care.
External affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal earlier confirmed on social media site X that the Prime Minister had halted his Saudi Arabia visit and was returning to India.

Union home minister Amit Shah reached Srinagar last evening, where he was briefed by director general of Jammu and Kashmir police Nalin Prabhat and others. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi spoke with Shah and asked him to visit J&K.
The attack came at a time when PM Modi was on his Saudi Arabia visit while US Vice President JD Vance was in India.
The Prime Minister skipped the official dinner hosted by Saudi Arabia as well as other pre-scheduled programmes to return to India. Sources said he is expected to chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security in Delhi on Wednesday to address the situation in J&K.
PM Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday condemned the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam as they co-chaired the Strategic Partnership Council, aimed at further strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
The Prime Minister, who arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday on a two-day visit, delayed his scheduled meeting with the Crown Prince by at least two hours to assess the situation in Kashmir.
