    Jan. 30, 2025

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) doesn’t have time in her schedule to make your eyes bleed — just yet. She’s way too busy visiting her nemesis, Tyler (Hunter Doohan), in the asylum where he’s being held. A brand-new snippet from Season 2 released as part of the Next on Netflix event proves as much: The haunting footage teases the thrilling upcoming episodes that will premiere in 2025.

“This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar tell Tudum.

Although Nevermore Academy’s No. 1 teen detective is the only cast member in the spine-tingling picture, we know she’ll be joined by familiar faces — and exciting new characters — when Wednesday returns. Cast members Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) all appeared in a recent Geeked Week 2024 featurette, along with director and executive producer Tim Burton

“This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine,” Zeta-Jones guarantees in the clip, as we see cast and crew buzzing around the busy Nevermore Academy set. You’ll have to press play on the footage, above, to see what other secrets and surprises lurk in the sneak peek.

Zeta-Jones’ words echo those of Gough and Millar. “We look forward to exploring more Addams Family lore, and are excited to introduce an eclectic lineup of incredible new characters,” the executive producers say.

When will Wednesday Season 2 come out?

Get ready to return to Nevermore Academy because Wednesday Season 2 premieres in 2025.

Production has officially been laid to rest.

What is Wednesday Season 2 about?

The series will continue to chart the supernatural mysteries of Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy. “Season 2 will be delightfully dark, kooky, and mysterious,” showrunners Gough and Millar reveal. “If we told you why, Wednesday would kill us. So our lips are sealed.”

When Wednesday Season 2 was renewed in January 2023, the show promised more “torture” ahead in an announcement video. Naturally, super sleuth Wednesday wouldn’t have it any other way.

“[Wednesday] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody,” Ortega told Tudum in February 2023. “Which, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I really respect.”

It’s clear Ortega isn’t the only one who’s come to admire Wednesday’s teenage take on the Addams family’s only daughter. In July 2023, the series was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago) have all become series regulars. Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) will also return in guest-starring roles.

What happens in Wednesday Season 1?

Enough twists, turns, and Things to make Wednesday Netflix’s most popular English-language TV series. Season 1 spent 20 weeks on the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries with 252.10 million views. In it,  Wednesday enrolls in Nevermore Academy and finds herself in the middle of an otherworldly conspiracy. The ending leaves Wednesday poised to meet her fair share of adversaries in Season 2.

“Threats remain out there … to both Wednesday and the school,” Millar said. “Not all loose ends have been tied up as neatly as she thinks they have.”

Wednesday may not be prone to smiling. But even she might break into the smallest grin over the promise of a new spooky case to crack.

More details about Wednesday Season 2 — from casting info to plot secrets — are still to come. So keep coming back to Tudum for more of the snappiest news around.
