What an amazing day! First, the kickoff of our Grid of Tomorrow Consortium, followed by the launch of our new Visionary Voices Series featuring a lively fireside chat with #Boilermaker Patti Poppe (BSIE '89, MSIE '91), CEO of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a #Fortune500 company. In a wide ranging conversation we discussed her unique leadership philosophy, the power of breakthrough thinking, Ikigai, PG and E's ambitious effort to significantly reduce wildfire risk and increase grid reliability by undergrounding transmission lines, the fires in Los Angeles, and her vision for how we will increase US grid capacity by more than 3X while decarbonizing and making electricity more affordable. On the personal side, we heard about her Midwest upbringing, the time she spent on the #Purdue campus, her time at the IE school, and working for SWE.
