London-based zango AI has raised US$4.8 million, in a round led by Nexus Venture Partners, a leading global venture capital firm with over $2.6 billion capital under management. Other participants in the latest round include South Park Commons, Richard Davies, CEO of Allica Bank, Alan Morgan, former head of Financial Services at McKinsey (EMEA), Mark Ransford, Notion Capital, No Label Ventures and Start Ventures. The funds raised will be used to expand teams in London and Bengaluru along with building out the other product modules for an AI-native GRC. Zango will also expand into other verticals of financial services as well outside of banking to insurance and asset management. Co-founder Ritesh Singhania said of the news: "We don’t sell a platform, we sell a solution. Our AI agents are paired with humans-in-the-loop to ensure 100% accuracy. Cloudflare, will start blocking AI crawlers from accessing content without website owners’ permission or compensation by default, in a move that could significantly impact AI developers’ ability to train their models. “If the Internet is going to survive the age of AI, we need to give publishers the control they deserve and build a new economic model that works for everyone – creators, consumers, tomorrow’s AI founders, and the future of the web itself,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. Industry leaders lined up in support of the move, which has also drawn criticism from some areas. Dr. Ilia Kolochenko, PhD, CEO at ImmuniWeb and a Fellow at THE BRITISH COMPUTER SOCIETY (BCS), released a statement about the news. He said: “This long-awaited feature by Cloudflare is a true disaster for many GenAI vendors, which may be fatal to the current business models of GenAI. Given that Cloudflare protects the majority of the world's most popular websites, as well as millions of smaller websites that publish academic and scientific content, this security feature will elegantly prevent data-greedy bots from unwarrantedly scraping human-created content without permission and without paying for it."
