Our collaborators at Vanderbilt CTTC are spotlighting revolutionary medical devices developed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center & Vanderbilt University! Be sure to follow along!
We're excited to kick off our Technology Spotlight series, where we’ll be showcasing the latest innovations from Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 🔬🔎🧬 This week’s Technology Spotlight features Vanderbilt University researchers Dr. Susie Lin and Dr. Kevin Galloway, who have developed a novel surgical guide for Intraoral Vertical Ramus Osteotomy (IVRO). This minimally invasive, low-cost device is designed to conform to the natural curvature of the jaw, ensuring precise osteotomy cuts while protecting critical nerves and blood vessels. By addressing issues like open bite, long-term neurosensory deficits, and active bleeding, it offers a safer, more accurate approach to jaw surgery. Prototypes are currently in testing, and a patent application has been filed.
