Who Will You Listen To?
The one that knows the truth - the best is out there.
The one that wants the same reality.
The one that knows part of the truth - the best is out there but can you truly pull it off?
The one that wants to play small.
The one that knows patience.
The one that feels ashamed of it taking too long, and disappointing ourselves or someone else.
The one that knows, you will find a way, no matter how long it takes and no matter how much it takes.
The one that doubts.
The brave one with courage to just do it.
The one who flew too close to the sun… and warns the others! Every chance they get. At game time, and even when it’s time to sleep. Squawk!
The realist that takes calculated risks
The naysayer that finds reasons it will never win.
The optimist that says screw you, we will win. 🤘❤️
The investor of time and energy and financial resources that wants their payout fast or not at all.
The one that wants to sell it and be done with it.
The steady, consistent, day in and day out force of nature that shows up like clockwork
The one who waits in line for fast food advice to get it done quick.
The one that plans out the whole future with the resources, cash, and develops the skills.
The one who gets tunnel vision solving a problem that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.
The one who has keyed in awareness to zoom out and take in the greater picture, solving the juiciest problem.
The one who is tired of trying.
The one who understands trying every way necessary is life itself
The one that needs outside approval to continue.
The one that gives approval and cheerleads and challenges to continue.
The one that knows all the reasons it will never work. (Easiest job ever!)
The one that gives solutions to 70% of the complaints, and discards the rest.
The one that gets distracted by their phone, a quibble, or gossip.
The one that engages and reunites with the reality of the situation completely, connects at the deepest level, becomes able to focus, and shifts the energy
The one that is jealous of everyone else with their riches or their accomplishments.
The one that asks how they did that and is in awe of others’ achievements.
The one that gives up.
The one that follows through.
The one that avoids the hard things and tries to throw quick fixes at problems.
The one who is boring, doing the most important thing no one else wants to do.
The one who is bored.
The one that knows the why is so strong that it overtakes their body and their mind.
The one who always has an opinion on what we do or should do.
The one who lets us breathe and find our own way to do it.
Corralling and Getting Ahold of Our Selves
These are all parts of our self. A big facet of creating and doing hard things is managing these voices in order to continue to persevere and remain focused as stress and more objectives, requirements, and commitments arise.
Simply the act of questioning is enough sometimes. Or, letting them have their say and then telling them or reiterating the truth. Or perhaps giving each voice a job to do - "I want you to count every leaf on that tree and report back to me only when you're finished." It doesn't have to even make sense, but if you say it with enough power, the voice will leave. You must speak over the cruft and again re-establish peace. You must command them, to re-establish control over your inner army - your mind.
Establishing the Voices Outside
These parts are also reflected in the people closest to us. What voices will you choose to live without?
Who will you choose to listen to?
It will make you or break you as you do hard things. Choose the right voices to ensure your success. Sometimes it means making tough calls on who is allowed in your inner circle, and who is simply not, for right now. One day they may be invited back when you're a little stronger, and with less on the line.
