A Safer New Way to Travel in the Future

Executive Summary

The Flying Lake Hopper

A Safer New Way to Travel in the Future.

The Lake Hopper is a vertical takeoff and landing flying craft, capable of landing on water or land. The Lake Hopper goals are to have 2 hours of flying time. The craft would be able to travel 500 miles, with a full tank of fuel. The Lake Hopper will be able to carry 1 pilot and 1,000lbs of cargo or passengers. Swivel nozzles at the four exit ports, will make the craft easy to control. The 4 thrust arms spread out the thrust force points, to give good balance like a quadcopter.

The Army’s version is the Hopper Express. The Hopper Express could use the GE T901 engine with 3,000shp. Dry weight of craft 6,000lbs. The estimated MTOW is 10,000lbs. to 12,000lbs and can carry 4,000lb to 6,000lb payload> Craft size 15’wide x 19’long> This craft can fit in a 20’ box. The competition VTOL craft are close to a 40’ box.

The Army’s Hopper Express craft can carry a 20mm cannon and has interior bays for missiles. We will have a prototype in 1 ½ years. Ready for the production line in 2 ½ years.

One of the biggest differences is that this design does not have exterior rotor blades. The blades are inside a chamber, which will make this craft quieter than the competition. The air flow in this design is going up and not down like all rotor craft. If you were to use a turbofan jet engine, you would have to install it upside down. You may not understand this new technology, but it works. Paul, from Avid Aerospace and all the team members understand how this craft works>

Roadside bombs would not have any affect a VTOL flying craft. You would not have to rely on roads to get to your destination. Troops can be shuttled in and out of the battlefield quickly and efficiently>

Helicopters of today cannot use a parachute, that is why helicopter crashes lead to many injuries and deaths each year. The Lake Hopper does not have exterior moving parts, so My New Ballistic Parachute Design, can be deployed safely for the entire craft. Airborne parachute company is an expert in military parachutes.

This Patent Pending Four Port Propulsion System is a unique but simple design. This is not a multi rotor craft nor an airplane! The Lake Hopper is in the Power Lift Category along with some helicopters. Engineers have determined that the air duct and fan arrangement can make more than 3lbs. of thrust per horsepower. There can be many different styles of the Lake Hopper built for many different Missions. We are currently seeking $2 million seed funding, to build full sized prototype. IdeaPros will partner 75% them, so the project needs an additional $500,00 to get off the ground.

We want to squeeze in on the New Urban Air Mobility 100 billon dollar market. We anticipate selling 100 craft in the first year and 200 sales in the second year. Payback within 3 years, after production line starts. These craft would be used to transport cargo and to also taxi people to and from.

Just like a helicopter, the Lake Hopper can be used for Military Missions, Electric Wire Work, Oil Platforms Shuttling, Air Ambulance, and Air Law Enforcement. Uber, FedEx and Amazon are also looking for ways to move their cargo or customers.

Amsafe a manufacturer makes an airbag seatbelt for the passenger’s extra safety. The crafts hydroplane ski boat bottom design also has a crash absorbing effects, built right in. This will help if the craft has a hard landing.

Advanced Technologies Inc can make contra rotating blades and gear system. Avid Aerospace for the custom design work. General Plastics for the boat bottom, the deck and the cabin. LMI and Lee Aerospace for thrust arms and wings. GE, Honeywell and Garmin all have aviation control software systems. General Dynamics is an expert in Military Weapon Systems. Airborne Parachute for military parachute for craft.

Team Members: Ranny Meier (aerospace engineer and pilot), Al Aldrich (aerospace engineer and helicopter pilot), Marty Zeller (aircraft model maker and Navy helicopter pilot) Tom Daily (inventor/founder)

The grilled area is the air intake. The passengers sit with their backs to the center fan chamber. The four thrust arms attach to the top of center fan chamber. The contra rotating fan blades force air flow up into the four thrust arms. The thrust arms spread out the thrust force to four points of balance, which gives good balance like a quadcopter> There are swivel nozzles at the 4 thrust arm exit ports for steering> A wing will be attached to the top of the thrust arms for a more efficient forward flight.

Interesting. Have you done any real performance analysis yet?
