What makes for a safe VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft? Safety should be the top priority when designing an new VTOL or eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. One of the first decisions that needs to be made is should you use a open propeller or a ducted fan with a shroud around the propeller for better safety.
