3 Tips for How to Take the Stress Out of a First (Online) Meeting

Recently, we (with my colleagues at a/sync ) went on a call to record a podcast with a host some of us have not met before. The host (Lisette Sutherland) sent us information about the technicalities and preparatory topics in advance, but what caught my attention was her personal "About me" page. In this page, she has a few paragraphs about her working hours, preferences and also some videos and links about what she terms her "quirks and hobbies". You can probably see, how this made us feel like we knew her before we even "met" her online.

Do you meet new colleagues regularly through your work? (Maybe because you are hiring or mentoring others?)

Or perhaps do you work in customer-facing roles? (In sales or relationship management)

What would be Your "essential quirks" or "need to know" information that other people should know about you while working together?

How would you craft this information - would you use poetry (would love to see this one), a visual infographic, or rather a detailed wiki page with links and bullet points?

See below my first version of a personal About me in a semi-visual format.

If you feel inspired, you can create your personal About me (also called personal readme or personal manual), and share the link in the comments!

If you share your personal About me with your team and colleagues, your first meetings with each other will be definitely more fun and free flowing!
