5 conclusions from IoT market fragmentation
In a world full of sensors and wireless sensor networks (WSN) that make up the Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Cities and smart agriculture applications seem to be leading the way. In a market that remains fragmented, what opportunities exist? How will we build the applications and infrastructure that serve the real world? In this deck, I am sharing Libelium's experience from a horizontal point of view about challenges and successes through several real world cases, markets and IoT trends.
Top 5 conclusions:
- Even although we hear about trend topics such as Smart Cities or Home Automation, opportunities in the IoT are coming from everywhere! From sophisticated projects for detect free parking spots to monitor radiation levels in a satellite or even koalas stress levels.
- Market is really difficult to forecast
- From a horizontal perspective - we work with 72 different sensors integrated into our Waspmote hardware platform - we see that we are not yet meeting pareto law.
- The biggest opportunities and challenges are coming from Smart Cities and Smart Agriculture.
- Do not forget makers!

11yExcellent summary. I agree with Alicia that the biggest opportunities and challenges are coming from Smart Cities and Smart Agriculture. This will be the topic of my speach in Milan M2M Summit in May 19-20. An apettizer in the blog: http://www.m2mplusforum.com/the-connected-livestock-farmer-3/
