U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and National Renewable Energy Laboratory recently launched GeoBridge, a new web portal that provides easy access to information on a wide range of #geothermal topics. GeoBridge covers everything from home geothermal heat pump (GHP) installation to careers in geothermal, educational tools, and cost savings opportunities for businesses. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is taking important steps to advance geothermal energy development with the Final Categorical Exclusion for Geothermal Resource Confirmation and the Proposed Categorical Exclusion for Geothermal Exploration. These updates will simplify geothermal permitting, reducing timelines and costs, and enabling the industry to deliver more clean, reliable power. We commend the U.S. Department of the Interior for its leadership in unlocking more geothermal energy resources. These changes will help create jobs, strengthen American energy security, and increase the supply of clean energy from America's public lands. This is a critical time to increase the supply of domestic energy and geothermal provides a unique value: minimal supply chain risks, low land use, and dependable 24/7 power. 🌍 Geothermal Power Boost 🔹 The Largest Geothermal Plant in the U.S. to be Established Sacramento: In a significant step towards environmentally friendly power production, the geothermal energy sector marked a key milestone on Tuesday. The largest geothermal power plant, harnessing the Earth's internal heat, is set to be established in the United States. A California-based power distribution company has decided to purchase the electricity generated from this plant. With a capacity of 400 megawatts, this plant will be able to power 400,000 homes. Fervo Energy will set up the geothermal power center, and Southern California Edison will buy the electricity. Fervo Energy is drilling 125 wells in the Utah region to tap into geothermal energy.
