As CERN marks its 70th anniversary, I feel privileged to reflect on how much we’ve accomplished across a wide range of experiments. Working with the Experimental Areas Group (https://lnkd.in/dk8su7gq) has given me a unique perspective on the incredible diversity of research happening beyond the iconic LHC. 💡 The North Area and East Area are hubs of innovation, enabling crucial experiments, detector R&D, and outreach initiatives like Beamline for Schools. Experiments like NA62 and COMPASS pushed and continue to push the boundaries of fixed-target physics. These efforts, alongside pioneering projects like Physics Beyond Colliders (https://pbc.web.cern.ch/) and next-generation experiments such as SHiP, are not just complementary to the LHC’s discoveries—they are essential to expanding our understanding of the universe. 🌍 Seeing how these diverse programs come together, with decades of progress behind us and more to come, reminds me how special it is to be part of CERN's ongoing journey. For the first time, researchers using the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, have tested a novel approach to search for signs of “New Physics” — phenomena beyond the Standard Model that remain unexplained. 

I am looking forward to delivering a keynote address - Quaternary Interpretation of Quantum Dynamics & Its Technological Implication - at the upcoming IEEE Conference on 'Emerging Trends in Networks and Computer Communications' organized by the UNESCO Chair on Secure High Performance Computing for Higher Education and Research, Namibia University of Science & Technology, Windhoek, Namibia. This talk will present a novel exploration of quantum dynamics through a quaternary framework - Quaternary Interpretation of Quantum Dynamics (QIQD), proposing a paradigm shift in our understanding and application of quantum phenomena like superposition and entanglement. This interpretation reimagines atoms as natural quantum computers operating within a fourfold code of space-time-energy-gravity, which serves as a fundamental blueprint for their functionality. The implications for technology, particularly in the creation of 'Integrated Quantum Computational Intelligence (IQCI) nano-cyborgs', are profound. These devices, designed to interface directly with the quantum realm, could significantly impact material science and life sciences by harnessing quantum intelligence inherent in natural systems. A suitcase containing a quantum light source: QuanTour visits Leiden Covered with stickers from various universities, containing a quantum light source. Since April 2024, this suitcase has been visiting scientists in Europe researching single photons: the smallest possible quantity of light. The suitcase, also called ‘Q-torch’, travels from lab to lab like an Olympic flame, announcing the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025. The suitcase left Edinburgh and arrived in Leiden this week. Over the next month, physicist Mio Poortvliet will investigate the world-class light source. Poortvliet and his colleagues in Wolfgang Löffler's group will demonstrate that this light source can be used to produce the smallest quantum particle of light: photons. Transverse Magnetic Focusing (TMF) has been a cornerstone in mesoscopic physics, but its quantum nature has long eluded simple explanations. A recent study takes a leap forward, using quantum point contacts in a two-dimensional electron gas to reveal the wavefunction of TMF in a multichannel setup. By bridging classical trajectories and quantum wavefunctions, the research provides an intuitive understanding of the spatial coherence and multichannel effects at the wavelength scale. This near-field TMF regime showcases how emitter wavefunctions retain their transverse mode shapes along cyclotron orbits, challenging semiclassical assumptions. The implications extend to realistic device applications, opening doors to deeper explorations of wavefunction geometry and quantum behavior in mesoscopic systems. Researchers from Louisiana State University, in collaboration with the LIGO Laboratory and Thorlabs Crystalline Solutions, have demonstrated a promising method to enhance gravitational-wave detectors using optical spring tracking. This technique aims to reduce quantum noise, a significant barrier in detecting gravitational waves, by tuning the system to match the frequency of gravitational wave signals. A proof-of-concept experiment showed that dynamic tracking could improve signal clarity by up to 40 times. This advancement could significantly enhance the sensitivity of detectors like LIGO and future systems, offering deeper insights into cosmic phenomena and the universe's origins.
