QCOM made an offer to acquire NXP in October 2016 and faced challenges, followed by BRCM’s attempt to acquire QCOM in November 2017, another difficult journey. Both deals were ultimately blocked after extensive and costly battles! With this track record, I’m not sure how QCOM expects to successfully navigate the much greater complexities of an Intel acquisition! #qualcomm #intel #mergerandacquisition #technologymanda

There are gossips around that #Qualcomm is buying #Intel!!! If this goes through, this is gonna be a transformational deal of #2024! But why does #Qualcomm want to buy #Intel in the first place? Some of the reasons, I could figure out were - 1. #Intel is running in losses, so much so that they reported around $1.6 billion usd in Q2 2024 compared to their $1.5 billion profit in Q2 2023. So, basically they are planning to spin off some of their businesses to sustain other operations. 2. #Qualcomm is a technology and research company as it doesn't have its own foundry to manufacture chips. It majorly relies on third party manufactures like TSMC, GlobalFoundries for manufacturing. So, it would be a great deal for them if they get #Intel's manufacturing units into their arsenal. This might make them unbeatable! While the particulars of this deal are still undisclosed like who gets what from this, do you think this will include a decent #patent takeover too by #Qualcomm? Also, what happens to the ongoing #patent disputes between #Intel & #Qualcomm? #latest #innovation #semicon #semiconductor #patent #manufacture

Qualcomm has approached Intel Corporation to explore a potential acquisition in what could be a transformational deal in the sector. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano R. Amon is personally involved in the negotiations to acquire five-decade-old Intel, according to the source who was briefed on the matter. Qualcomm reportedly explored the possibility of acquiring portions of Intel's design business and that its PC design unit was of particular interest. The conversations with Intel are at an early stage. A bid would mark the biggest takeover attempt in the technology industry since Broadcom sought to buy Qualcomm for $142 billion in 2018. https://lnkd.in/eV7u85Gv #AIHardware #EdgeAI #AI #Partnership #Acquisition

🚨 Tech Giants in Talks: #Qualcomm Eyes #Intel in Potential Game-Changing #Acquisition! In a bold move that could reshape the #semiconductor #industry, #Qualcomm has approached #Intel about a potential takeover, according to recent reports. This comes as #Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon takes the lead in what could be a transformative deal. 🔍 Why It #Matters: #Qualcomm has long eyed Intel's PC design unit, but this latest approach signals interest in Intel's entire business portfolio. If successful, this acquisition could dramatically shift market dynamics in #PC design and #chip manufacturing. Despite early-stage talks and no formal offer, this news has already impacted the market: #Intel’s stock rose by 3.3%, while #Qualcomm’s fell by 2.9%. ⚠️ #Challenges Ahead: With Intel’s stock down 60% this year, the company is vulnerable to such advances, but regulatory hurdles loom large. The deal would likely face antitrust scrutiny across the #US., #Europe, and #China. #Qualcomm, valued at $188 billion, would need to figure out financing for Intel, currently valued at $122 billion—a financial and strategic balancing act with potential roadblocks. 🏭 #Strategic Implications: One of the biggest hurdles? #Qualcomm’s lack of experience in chip manufacturing, a critical area where Intel has made significant investments. Stay tuned as these confidential negotiations could dramatically alter the landscape of the semiconductor industry.
