What the Olympics taught me about eCommerce... Let's start this off with my favorite race of the Olympics, the Men's 1500M! There was a ton of smack talk between Kerr (Britain) and Ingebrigtsen (Norway) leading up to the race. With Ingebrigtsen on track to beat the world record, his focus stayed locked on Kerr, overlooking the true threat. This oversight allowed a dark horse, Cole Hocker from the US, to seize an unexpected opportunity in the final 800m. Spotting a gap, Hocker executed the kick of his life to clinch gold for the US. TAKEAWAY: This dramatic finish is a powerful metaphor for eCommerce. Just like in the race, focusing too intensely on your expected competitors can blind you to unexpected threats. It highlights the importance of keeping an eye on the entire field, adapting your tactics swiftly, and seizing opportunities the moment they arise. This week, I’ll be dropping more insights inspired by Olympic events: 🥇 Quincy Hall 🥇🥇 Sydney McLaughlin 🥇 🥉 Noah Lyles Each athlete's story carries lessons for business resilience and innovation. And a huge shoutout to Team USA for an unforgettable Olympics 2024! What was your favorite event and what were your takeaways? Comment below 👇👇 👇
Loved the update on the games, Victor :)) I'll be honest, in the past when things weren't going totally according to plan, my first reaction was usually to double down on what wasn't working vs. opening my eyes to new opportunities.
My employees beat this time when they're pressed against a deadline. If not, fired.
man i was worries when i read "What the Olympics taught me about eCommerce... " but acutally value bomb post. thanks man
You either ran 5 laps prior to snapping this or you need to go to the doctor. Which is it?
Yeah, that race was crazy. Good comparison to business.
That was a great race
Man, this is such a cool parallel, Victor! The whole Kerr vs. Ingebrigtsen drama really does reflect what can happen in eCommerce. It's easy to get caught up in the competition you expect, but it's those dark horses that can come out of nowhere and shake things up.
Kenneth Rooks 🥈3000m steeple, a complete underdog, might have been the biggest surprise of the games
I'm running my eCom Marathon all day every day! 🏆

7moFocusing too much on your main competitors is a trap. The real danger often comes from those unexpected players lurking in the shadows.
