Frontier Mindset in the USA vs. The "Kiss-Ass" Godfather Model in Modern India. 💡💡 Why are Indians overrepresented in leadership positions, unlike East Asians? Why do we excel at managing but struggle to build? 💡💡 Friends, I often criticize India because I want our nation, the cradle of civilization and the crossroads of humanity, to reclaim its rightful place as the true GOAT Vishwaguru. But it’s impossible to be one without being original, disruptive, creative, and building iconic ventures and discovering new frontiers. Today, we live in a Western era, where virtually everything of note in the modern world is the direct result of their research, innovation, and ventures. What makes the USA the greatest experiment ever is (a) the frontier spirit of its people and (b) the disproportionate rewards given to disruptors, regardless of race or creed. No other nation celebrates disruption and constant renewal of its top soil like the US. Unfortunately, this mindset contrasts sharply with the Indian approach, where many rise through the ranks via extreme networking, i.e. the Godfather model, which has long been the *****only viable path to upward mobility in a deeply colonized society*****. I love Sriram Krishnan and celebrate the achievements of every Indian, but this is precisely why Indians are receiving so much hate on Twitter today. We are overrepresented in leadership positions, unlike East Asians (check the PNAS paper in comments), because we excel at understanding human nature and can network, find mentors or gurus, and "kiss ass" to get ahead. The Gharana (or fiefdom) system, a form of patronage, is common across many cultures. While I don’t entirely oppose this model, we must also focus on producing something truly disruptive. I see this same issue in Indic academia. Indian scientists often complain that you can’t rise through the ranks without a Godfather. Whether or not this is true, we need to move past this model. Sure, networking and being deferential to authority are important, but at some point, we must also produce disruptive work. You can’t become a CEO or a leader simply by wordcelling. Middle management may run the world, but India cannot move ahead by being the BACK OFFICE. ➡️ 💡 Our students must aim to perform bold experiments, work on disruptive ideas, and shake the world, and not just complete a BTech+MBA and join a GCC. The world respects and remembers original thinkers, doers, builders, and inventors—not middle managers or caretaker CEOs. Right now, every $ counts, and we may need to "kiss ass" to rise through the ranks. But at some point, we must follow the US model of celebrating dissent, disruption, and innovation; and create iconic ventures and make new discoveries, worthy of a Vishwaguru.

𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐋 In today's competitive world, we sometimes forget the core principle: it's alright to fail, start fresh, and even stumble again. Breaking news!!! US Universities are now offering honorary degrees in “becoming Indian” and degrees in being an “honorary Indian”:) All kidding aside, the trend of F500 CEOs being of Indian descent is definitely worth noticing. I would argue that tech-centric roles such as CTOs and CIOs at those same companies are occupied mostly by men and women of indian origin. While India is a beacon of economic hope in an otherwise tumultuous and uncertain world, Indians globally are a force to be reckoned with, and reaching new heights in the US and across the globe. As Eric Garcetti so aptly put it - America has transitioned from “you could not be CEO if you were Indian” to “you can’t be CEO unless you are Indian”. A bit tongue in cheek, but the trend is clear! cc: Iron Pillar Anand Prasanna Ashok Ananthakrishnan Ashish Shah Raj Chinai Sajid Fazalbhoy Shanthi Pavan Sanjna Tulsiani, CFA Samay Kala Akshaya Damle #indiarising #aspiration

At 15, I walked away from the rat race of conventional schooling, believing I was breaking free. But nine years later, I realized I was still caught in the same cycle—chasing numbers, running after targets, and fitting into molds I didn’t create. That’s when the question hit me: Why am I running behind numbers like a fool? Where’s the game-changer, the one of kind mindset? Yes, corporate exposure taught me a lot, and starting my business was meant to break the cycle. But instead, I found myself trapped in the same patterns—just under a different name. Following the herd of small businesses, playing it safe, and shying away from bold ideas just because they involved financial risk. I stopped and asked myself: Where’s the joy in all this? That moment changed everything. I began stripping away the noise of numbers, trends, and societal expectations. My thought process shifted to focus on clarity, creativity, and courage. Why should business follow a set pattern? Why should success be defined by someone else’s rules? At SeekThrill India, this realization is our turning point. We’re stepping away from being just another sales-driven company. Instead, we’re prioritizing innovation, creativity, and impact. No more following trends—it’s time to create them. 2025 will be the year of fearless experimentation. The year we embrace the bold ideas I once feared would fail. Because real success lies in daring to be different. Travel isn’t just about 3-day itineraries or seasonal packages. It’s about something bigger: transforming lives, building connections, and fostering a conscious way of living. But here’s the big question: What can truly disrupt an overcrowded, competitive travel industry where seasonal trends dominate? #business #mindset #innovation #ideas
