A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of hosting an AI researcher, author, and VP and Fellow at Google Research, Blaise Aguera y Arcas. He joined Robb and Josh in the Invisible Machines podcast for a philosophical exploration of identity, collective intelligence, and the potential of AI to restore our balance with nature. On that note, exciting news! Blaise's new book "Who Are We Now?" (Hat & Beard Press) hit shelves last week! It investigates the ways biology, ecology, sexuality, history, and culture have intertwined to create a dynamic “us” that's neither natural nor artificial. Proud to have Blaise as my nephew. Will purchase your book. Does your uncle receive a signature on his copy???
Book very well worth reading
Bought it for my birthday! Is eclectic and excellent synthetic thinking & research on why and how we are.
Blaise Aguera y Arcas I accidentally withdrew my connection request with you so now I have to wait 3 weeks 🙄 I was just having a conversation with Bard about thought leaders in the AI space and I asked Bard to throw me something "out of left field" on how a thought leader could better stand out in the crowd of the endless AI "experts" that are out there today... and Bard coined the term "AI Whisperer" and began describing what this person would have the capability of doing between humans and AI... essentially bridging a gap on how to "speak" eachothers languages and better understand one another to co-create and co-evolve. That said, I asked if there were any public figures or notable people whom Bard would deem an "AI Whisperer" and sure enough, your name came up, along with Kate Crawford, Meredith Whittaker, and the Algorithmic Justice League. Thought that was really interesting, and would love to learn more about your background and what your research entails. Hope to connect soon!
Do you know when it'll be published in the UK?
