President of the European Commission

We have concluded the negotiations on the EU-Mercosur partnership agreement. It’s a win for Europe. 60.000 European companies are already exporting to Mercosur – 30.000 of them small and medium-sized. Many more will follow. EU-Mercosur reflects our values and commitment to climate action. And our EU health and food standards remain untouchable. This deal will be refused by France, Italy, Poland and others. How could you fly to South America at the time the French government collapsed, a government you knew was fiercely against the EU - Mercosur agreement? This is a political fault, a treason of the European customers and farmers, a deal that does not protect the EU and its citizens. How can you claim that you work for the EU when you do not hear the voices of its citizens? Shame on the EU commission!!!

I shall repeat an earlier post to Cmmr Sefcovic on what is the most important issue at play here with this deal., Europe is at war and it’s diminishing global democratic influence is undet considerable threat. And therein lies the key: EU trade policy is not just (and has never been) entirely about goods, services or standards. It is the EU’s foreign policy in action. EU trade policy has always been about Europe strengthening both economic (and therefore) security ties with key blocs/partners around the world. The EU - is sadly - a diminishing global player tied-up with wars (etc.) started to limit its very democratic outreach and strength. This deal is needed for “Europe as a whole“ - whist rightly the politicians need to balance the global gain against the local pain - especially in agricultural strongholds such as France/Ireland. #eutrade #trade #dgtrade #eucommission #sefcovic #eumercosur #eeas #kallas #EU I’ll be bold: imagine if all the anti traders (across many Brussels organisations at the time) had supported simply stronger economic and security ties with the US? Nothing is perfect. But would the global geopolitical landscape - so strained and precarious today - be so fearful if we had a deal in place? Just saying….;-)

This is insane... Specially when others European countries don't approve this negotiation and this EU-Mercosur partnership agreement. Door toward the totalitarianism is now wide open by denying democracies to the benefit of neoliberalism and in acceptance of its consequences? (climate change, sanitarian issues, pollution, soil destruction, disturbing water cycle, disturbing phosphor/nitrogen cycle, destruction of biodiversity...etc) If you want to take the trouble to read this French report for more arguments https://www.info.gouv.fr/rapport/11746-rapport-de-la-commission-d-evaluation-du-projet-d-accord-ue-mercosur

What you did yesterday is unacceptable! Why take such an absurd decision when we know that it is enough for 35% of the population of member countries to vote against for the agreement to be rejected? We represent 15.2%, and there are already 4 other countries that will oppose your project, which far exceeds 35%. You can count on France so that there will be more! You have made a huge mistake. That's the end of the story for you. Never underestimate France!

Congrats! Especially for exporting European SME‘s, which are the backbone of Europe’s manufacturing industry, this is great news, as they are all eager and agile to adapt quickly to new challenges and market shifts. Also, this might be a huge opportunity for economies such as Brazil or the newly emerging Argentina. Ideally, bringing down tariffs should boost and revamp businesses, so let‘s hope this is just the beginning

This is really a great achievement. As a Dutchman who lives part of the year in Uruguay I am very happy with this. Uruguay is a very nice country. Supermarket prices are in Uruguay much too high considering the income of the majority of people. And higher than in the Netherlands and Spain. With this agreement hopefully European supermarket chains can start their business here.

The EU-Mercosur agreement is a major step forward, offering #Brazil access to European markets, fostering local industry growth, and creating jobs. It also enables the import of high-quality European goods, benefiting consumers and boosting innovation. This partnership strengthens Brazil’s trade network while promoting sustainability and global competitiveness. I’m proud of my country. 🇧🇷

You need to speak with the Serbian Prime Minister. They are joining BRICS, and will also be participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. Serbia fails to realize that it's a debt trap that will increase China's influence over Europe. If you could do this, that would be great. I don't agree with you on everything, but I'm willing to assist you.
