The counting will take place on Tuesday. 🔴 Of the 57 seats, nine are from West Bengal, 13 from Uttar Pradesh, eight from Bihar, six from Odisha, four from Himachal Pradesh, three from Jharkhand, and the lone seat of Union Territory Chandigarh. 🔴 All 13 seats of Punjab are also on today's list. Unsurprisingly, pollsters and analysts have called this election wrong. Did these people speak to the members of constituents? Did they talk to people across cities and towns to understand their issues? Most certainly not. Pollsters get things wrong and people make mistakes but this one is an absolute beauty. Pollsters need to be held to the highest standards of accountability. The stock market crashed. But challenges are ahead no matter who comes to power. While foreign and defence policy would enjoy consensus, the same cannot be said for other pieces of legislation and areas of public policy. Some might say we have walked ourselves into a legislative nightmare. Whether that is the case, only time shall tell. Another question that I must ask: will mainstream media finally sort itself out?

Wow, what an election! For the third time in a row, the exit polls have missed the mark on the Lok Sabha elections. And let’s be clear, these aren’t just wild guesses; they come from thorough research and analysis. Everyone expected the NDA to secure a huge majority, but the results were quite different. The ruling party celebrated a third consecutive term (Modi is only the 2nd PM to achieve this feat), while the opposition celebrated their increased numbers. Interestingly, the NDA outperformed expectations in Odisha and Telangana but took a hit in Maharashtra, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. After a decade of majority government, we’re back to a coalition setup. A strong opposition is needed for a well functioning democracy and to keep the ruling party in check and I am glad we are getting it. However, the concern is, if the opposition pushes for the things in their manifesto then development will take a back seat. Election Commission All set for the penultimate phase (Phase-6) polling tomorrow Spread: 58 Lok Sabha seats,11.13 crore voters, over 1.14 lakh polling stations, 8 States/UTs Simultaneous polling for 42 Assembly Constituencies in Odisha IMD predicts no adverse impact of cyclone The Election Commission of India is all geared up for the Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha polls that commence tomorrow. Polling is scheduled in 58 PCs across 8 States/UTs. Haryana and NCT of Delhi will head to polls in this phase. Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal are the other States/UTs which will continue with their polls in this phase. Polling for 42 Assembly Constituencies for the Odisha State Legislative Assembly will also take place simultaneously.

By-elections kick off in 13 assembly constituencies across seven states, with early voter turnout reported. The states include West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh. The by-elections were necessitated due to the passing or resignations of previous representatives. As of now, the highest voter turnout has been reported in Madhya Pradesh's Amarwara at 78.38%, followed by Himachal Pradesh's Nalagarh at 78%. The voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. Recent elections results of Odisha sing the symphony of democracy. A stable government of 24 years is changed by the electors to remain true to the spirit of democracy. Democracy, a form of government where people elect their representatives. They elect these representatives to form the government and work for them. People scrutinise every candidate and think if he/she is worth my vote. It will not be wrong to say change is the soul of democracy. Parties change, Party Leaders change, People come and go but what remains is the government and democracy of this government. Thankfully, we don't live in a dictatorship or monarchy where our loyalty has to be with the party or the leader or the monarch. Or else, feeling sad when a 24 year government is overturned would have put us in the offences of sedition and traitor. If not even that, we wouldn't have given the choice to elect our own government. Hence, change is essential to keep the democracy alive. 2024 elections results were the much needed full stop to 24 years of Odisha's legacy. The new government is on play now. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance appeared headed for a landslide victory in Maharashtra, securing a dominant lead over the struggling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), while the opposition INDIA bloc was on track to claim victory in Jharkhand, according to trends from the Election Commission on Saturday. As vote counting progressed for the assembly elections held earlier this month, India’s ruling and opposition alliances seemed set to win one state each, reflecting voter preference for stability over change. In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti coalition, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, was leading in 218 out of 288 seats, signaling strong support for the ruling alliance.
