Wondering how to make a lasting impact with your next event? I recently had the opportunity to discuss this with Sammy Connell, ABPCO Co-Chair diving into the concept of event legacy and how to create experiences that leave a meaningful mark long after the event ends. Some take aways from our conversation : Purpose-Driven Planning – Understand your event’s “why” and align it with values that matter. Sustainability at the Core – Reduce the event’s footprint and consider what can be given back. Community Connection – Involve local communities for a lasting, positive impact. Storytelling for Legacy – keep the experience alive in people’s minds. Take a read of the full article link below, and feel free to share your thoughts. 🚀 As someone representing both NASUWT - The Teachers’ Union and ABPCO, creating events that leave a lasting legacy is something I deeply care about. It’s not just about the logistics, it’s about fostering a sense of place and purpose that resonates LONG after the event is over. 💥 I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be when events are designed with legacy in mind, shaping positive outcomes for years to come. This ABPCO article from Kerry Wright from Lime Venue Portfolio really captures that vision - how to elevate your events to be more meaningful and impactful. 🏛️✨ 🖐️ I must give the amazing Alistair Turner a virtual high five for introducing me to LVP and the incredible team - Jo Austin, Kerry Wright, Katherine Hume and Andrea Guimaraes. If legacy is as important to you or you want to find out more - this is a must-read! But...you can’t take it all with you. It is time to get ruthless about what matters most. It’s not about doing more—it’s about doing what counts. Ready to conquer 2025 with focus and purpose? Let’s make it happen. Our next Global Convening for WiBE members is January 16th focused on "Achieving Your Top 3 in 2025: The Secret to Staying Focused" at 10am or 7pm (session repeats). Start your year strong with your WiBE members! 🌸

We’re back from the Labour Party Conference after 3 days of networking, collaboration and hearing the Government’s policy plans for the coming months and years. Watch out for an upcoming blog with our key takeaways from the Party Conferences, but to update on the last few days: ➡️ We held our roundtable event on young people affected by violence - where the importance of youth voice and a joined up approach across government departments was universally agreed. Thank you to MPs Florence Eshalomi and Olivia Bailey, Lib Peck, and sector colleagues (including Sarah Yong, Debbie Moss, Kayleigh Wainwright) for their brilliant contributions. Let’s keep the momentum going and make change in this space happen! ➡️ We attended and contributed to a number of events focussing on how we can build the future workforce to support the Government's net zero targets. It's something we're passionate about at Catch22 and are contributing to through our employability programmes supported by National Grid and Shell. We need to enthuse, inform, and support people to access energy transition jobs! ➡️ Hearing the Prime Minister Keir Starmer committing to ensuring care experienced young people can access social housing in any area, to the delight of our NLCBF colleagues who have fought hard to make changes in this space; and announcing an overhaul in apprenticeships, including introducing Foundation Apprenticeships. These are issues we care passionately about at Catch22 and, if done well, will improve the lives of the people we work with. ➡️ Other great events we attended were focussed on the importance of school enrichment programmes, how both legislation and cultural change are needed to tackle VAWG, the need to ensure schoolchildren are equipped with the skills for the future (including digital), and how the Government can improve the care system for care experienced young people. ➡️ Thank you to Jonathan Hopkins for coordinating a vibrant Youth Zone this year – a powerful group of organisations making the case for putting young people at the heart of government policy, including Centre for Young Lives, Youth Futures Foundation, The Prince's Trust, UK Youth, Nacro. So much varied content, energy, and agreement on what needs to be done. The challenge now is how to enact change – and particularly how the public, private, and third sectors can work together to deliver efficient and effective public services. Next week: the Conservative Party Conference!
