The government of Paraguay in collaboration with #SOUTHCOM recently completed a joint cyber security review of Paraguayan government networks designed to strengthen the security of the nation’s critical assets. During the review, the cyber espionage actor Flax Typhoon - a group based in the People’s Republic of China with links to the PRC government - was identified infiltrating Paraguayan government systems. Recent infiltrations of private telecommunications infrastructure in the United States highlight the importance of cooperation and strengthening critical infrastructure - particularly cyber and communications infrastructure - to reduce vulnerabilities. This cyber review was part of ongoing cooperation between the United States and Paraguay to build a more secure and resilient digital infrastructure and address shared challenges in cyberspace. The government of Paraguay and the government of the United States of America will continue to work on strengthening their cybersecurity systems to build and strengthen the national and international system. https://lnkd.in/eeevMXZq

The Typhoon of PRC state sponsored cyber-attacks, in the first Asia Crime Century briefing of 2025. The intent and the nature of PRC state sponsored cyber-threats is clearly established. The intelligence and security agencies of the US, UK, and all of their Western allies have explained in detail, with reference to specific cases, how PRC cyber-attacks are being conducted on a prolonged and sustained basis. The intent is both short term (to conduct industrial espionage) as well as long term (to prepare to undermine the infrastructure of the US and its allies in the event of conflict with the PRC). The impact of these attacks are not immediately visible to citizens as cyber-attacks are digital and not intended to have a real world impact until a later time when the attacker decides to utilise IT vulnerabilities. However, the threat is real and far greater attention and prevention is required to safeguard IT systems as well as our political system. Both are under attack. #cyber #china https://lnkd.in/eVhcH_mF

We love this article from CISA about protecting critical infrastructure. It is becoming ever more important to protect your system. Check out the article below for information. ➡️
In observance of National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month, along with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, we released NEW guidance to assist critical infrastructure owners and operators to detect and mitigate efforts by foreign intelligence entities to disrupt U.S. critical infrastructure. As a nation, we are seeing continued cyber and physical threats to critical infrastructure Americans rely on every day. U.S. adversaries and their foreign intelligence entities understand the importance of the critical infrastructure sectors and how degrading them could hinder our national response to events. Resolve to #BeResilient. Read more about the threat and mitigation steps at https://lnkd.in/e-n8Z6nw

The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill aimed at enhancing #cyber #resilience against state-sponsored threats. This legislation, advanced by the House Committee on Homeland Security, seeks to address the increasing cyber threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to U.S. #criticalinfrastructure. The legislation works to ensure the security and integrity of these critical installations by establishing an interagency task force and requiring a comprehensive report on the targeting of the nation’s critical infrastructure by People’s Republic of China (PRC) state-sponsored cyber actors. Marked H.R. 9769, the ‘Strengthening Cyber Resilience Against State-Sponsored Threats Act,’ requires the task force to provide a classified report and briefing to Congress annually for five years on its findings, conclusions, and recommendations relating to malicious CCP cyber activity. The legislation was unanimously advanced out of the Committee in September. It was introduced by House Representative Laurel Lee, a Florida Republican; Mark E Green MD, a Republican from Tennessee and chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security; and Congressman John Moolenaar, a Republican from Michigan and chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. https://lnkd.in/gkw6mkBi

Exciting developments taking place in digital security in Flanders! Quoted from the Brussels Times: Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele revealed plans to establish a Flemish Centre for Digital Security during a parliamentary session. This new entity aims to safeguard online activities for regional and local administrations, combat disinformation, and mitigate foreign interference risks. Functioning as the Flemish counterpart to the Centre for Cyber Security Belgium (CCB), responsible for overseeing Belgium's cybersecurity strategy, the centre will prioritize both proactive measures and incident responses. The evolution of this initiative promises to be intriguing as it unfolds. Thanks, Jon #Belgium #Flanders #Cyber #Resilience #Security

🤝 On 23 and 24 April, the RDI (Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur), in cooperation with the NCSC (Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL)) and with the participation of other relevant regulators, organises NISDUC 2024 (NIS Directive User Community) in The Hague. This international conference is entirely dedicated to the implementation of the new European directive NIS2. The conference was officially opened yesterday by Justice and Security Minister Dilan Yesilgoz, who stressed the importance of cybersecurity for the Netherlands: "𝙒𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙. During the programme presentations were given by among others the Digital Trust Center and the European Commission. There were also sessions for various sectors that will be impacted by NIS2. The common message in all the presentations was to not wait for the new legislation, but to take action immediately. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eWV22jkT
