UN Environment Programme’s Post

Every fraction of a degree matters. Rising temperatures put marine life and coastal ecosystems at risk of irreversible loss. Urgent #ClimateAction is needed to #SaveOurOcean. https://lnkd.in/eEEG_BDE

😮💨 Your target audience should be those who are unaware of or overlook environmental issues, rather than those who are already environmentally conscious and simply clicking likes or trolling. In this sense, this image could be misleading to many. Unfortunately, most people won’t take the time to read the linked article. The widely mentioned +1.5°C target is, to some extent, a political benchmark. I’m not an environmentalist, but as someone already pointed out, even a +1.5°C rise has already had negative impacts on ecosystems. What people need to understand isn’t just the difference between +1.5°C and +2.0°C, but how reefs respond to every fraction of a degree.

We are already past 1.5C, as per this report in January 2025. Coral reefs are quite literally being cooked off this planet. Let’s stop with the passive language and call a spade a spade. https://berkeleyearth.org/global-temperature-report-for-2024/#:~:text=The%20Paris%20Agreement%20on%20Climate,goal%20will%20not%20be%20achieved.

The UN states the facts. Every day. Every hour. What does the UN do to prevent the destruction of the ecosystem, flora and fauna of the earth? How do "Plastic passports" that UNEP came up with 3 years ago help marine flora and fauna survive?! Let me remind you. The population of the Earth "produces" 2,500,000,000 tons of household waste per year. Only 10% is recycled. Plastic passports do NOT change this sad statistics! And 3 years have passed...

The maritime industry desperately needs emission lowering controls put into place regarding food and subsequent food waste. The UN must recommend that provisioning should be as plant-based as possible and set a minimum of 75% plant-based food onboard to start. This would not only reduce food related emissions from ships by up to 70%, it would also improve the health of crew and without meats, dairy and eggs, the food would be easier to store, last longer and be less likely to spoil, in terms of health and safety, requiring less energy to freeze and chill. These actions would reduce the amount of waste and its impact, save energy and save money. The maritime industry needs radical changes and I would love to see the United Nations, the UN Environment Programme and the World Health Organization take initiative on this topic.

This is a crucial reminder that climate action cannot wait! 🌍💙 As a community, we must advocate for sustainable practices and support initiatives that protect our oceans and marine ecosystems. Small efforts like reducing waste, conserving energy, and raising awareness can contribute to a healthier planet. Let’s take action today for a better tomorrow! #ClimateAction #SustainableFuture

Then permanantly Remove all smoking 🚬🚭 and alcohol items industries in all 197 countries globally because Carbon footprints and pollution (solid/liquid/gas before making and during & after using/consuming them) emissions from them is totally completely artificial to this mother planet Earth environment and Countries like India many men misuse them and create lot of violence against women exploiting all age groups of women, children etc.As a result police 🚓 vehicles ambulances coming going later court vehicles travel to & fro lot of valuable time money peaceful lives spoiling in India which is the dark side of the items.

(Part Two) February 3, 2025 ✍An Iranian short animation won an Oscar! What do you think the subject of the animation was? It was about the life of a father and daughter. The father is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from war, and the daughter gets tired of her father's work and decides to separate. They lived by the sea, and when the daughter came out of the hut, she saw a whale stranded on the shore. They tried to save the whale, but they couldn't, and one night, the father of the girl, without his daughter's knowledge, tied their small fishing boat to the whale's tail and drowned the boat and himself to save the whale! I launched a public challenge yesterday, and interestingly, today, an Iranian animation that matched the subject of a part of my personal life won an Oscar! This contrast in analytical psychology is called synchronicity! That is, events show you that you made the right decision. But I don’t need any synchronicity or hint from the universe to make me decide to create a story about peace! I realized that I always wanted to be a hero, but a hero of peace, not a hero of war! How about you?

I am currently working on evaluating the environmental impact of brine discharge from seawater desalination plants. One of the key concerns is the potential impact of high-temperature brine, especially in cases where it is discharged directly into the sea without proper treatment. Elevated temperatures can disrupt marine ecosystems, affecting water quality and aquatic life especially coral reefs. My research explores alternative mitigation strategies and solutions to minimize these impacts, ensuring more sustainable brine disposal practices.

(Part One) February 2, 2025 ✍ Hello, I always knew that the world was full of injustice and war, but I believed that I could spread peace and justice with my pen. I have been deeply discouraged for the past few days until I remembered you, my friends, and realized that I am not alone. I want all of us to write short stories about peace and publish them on LinkedIn. We must do our best—not because it is or isn’t our duty, but because the world is in desperate need of peace. The growing tensions and wars could one day destroy our planet forever! Suppose we can engage people through our stories and help them realize that we all, without exception, share a vital need for global peace. In that case, politicians and world leaders will find themselves standing alone, forced to choose healthier ways to resolve their conflicts. I know that to some, my suggestion may seem naïve or childish, but believe me—any effort for peace is far healthier than any effort for war. We must learn that uniting against each other is a destructive choice that only leads to war, and we must always remember we have only one planet to live on. I'm writing, are you writing too Mina (Fatemeh) Jafari, a writer who spent her entire childhood in a time of war
