CEREBRAS FILLS ITS IPO PLATE Cerebras Systems, a startup specializing in artificial intelligence chips, filed for an IPO on Nasdaq to trade under the "CBRS.” Citigroup and Barclays are leading the IPO. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company makes the Cerebras WSE-3 chip with more cores and memory. Despite significant revenue growth, Cerebras reported net losses, attributing increased operating expenses to support this growth. The company's largest revenue contributor is Group 42, which has ties to Microsoft. Cerebras warns of potential supply chain disruptions. In 2021, Cerebras was valued at over $4 billion in a $250 million funding round. According to the filing, in May, G42 committed to purchasing $1.43 billion in orders from Cerebras before March 2025. G42 currently owns under 5% of Cerebras’ Class A shares, Cerebras was founded in 2016 and is based in Sunnyvale, California. Andrew Feldman, the startup’s co-founder and CEO, sold server startup SeaMicro to AMD for $355 million in 2012. The biggest investor in Cerebras is venture firm Foundation Capital, followed by Benchmark and Eclipse Ventures. According to the filing, Alpha Wave, Coatue, and Altimeter each own at least 5%. Other investors include OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Sun Microsystems co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim. Feldman is the only individual who owns 5% or more. #CerebrasSystems #artificialintelligence #IPO #TSMC #Group42 #Microsoft #AndrewFeldman #FoundationCapital #Benchmark #EclipseVentures #OpenAI #SamAltman

Interesting $44M Series A for MetisX from South Korea! Led by the Jin Kim, one of the youngest VPs ever SKHynix, MetisX is addressing the "von Neumann bottleneck." This limitation occurs where a computer's CPU and memory are separate, communicating through a single, often congested, data channel. MetisX is building a memory solution that leverages CXL (Compute Express Link), which enables high-speed data transfers between the CPU and memory. Why is this crucial? As data demands escalate, current memory systems are increasingly unable to meet these needs efficiently, especially in data centers where operational costs and energy consumption are significant concerns. If you are building a deep-tech Series A startup, please reach out to us at DTCF | DeepTech & Climate Fonds
🚀 Exciting News from MetisX ! 🚀 We're thrilled to announce that MetisX has successfully raised $44 million in Series A funding, bringing our total funding to over $50 million. This significant milestone will accelerate our efforts in revolutionizing computing with our cutting-edge CXL technology-based memory solutions. With plans to launch our inaugural ASIC chip early next year and to expand our presence with a new branch in the US, we are on track to make significant inroads into major datacenters and tech giants. We are excited for what the future holds and are deeply grateful for the ongoing support from our investors and the community. Stay connected for more updates! MILLIBEAM has raised $6 million, its biggest capital injection yet, to make 5G better. The startup designs chipsets that can simultaneously connect to standard 5G and "mmWave" 5G, which is up to 10- to 20-times faster but covers much less ground. By putting what would normally take two or more chipsets into just one, Venkata Gutta says his startup can reduce the cost of mmWave buildout by "a factor of 10." Breakthrough Victoria and Main Sequence contributed $3m apiece to the raise. It's not everyday you hear about burgeoning semiconductor startups in Australia; the sector is still largely built around fast-growing SaaS outfits. Nothing wrong with that, but it's encouraging to see deep tech get love as the VC sector at large recovers from its post-pandemic hangover. It follows quantum computing startup Diraq last week raising $10 million, and the gargantuan $100 million raise from Samsara Eco. This exclusive and more in this week's (free to sign up for!)
