Early retirement is often envisioned as an idyllic phase with ample time for leisure and personal pursuits. Yet, the paths leading to this stage can be markedly different. While some individuals step into early retirement by choice, others are thrust into it due to circumstances beyond their control. Highlights: ☀️Planned Early Retirement: Achieved through years of savings and investment, offering freedom and independence. ☀️Forced Early Retirement: Caused by health issues, industry changes, or layoffs, often leading to financial and emotional challenges. ☀️Economic Impact: Both forms of early retirement have significant implications for economic and social systems. This month's article, https://lnkd.in/gtjGhAV7, delves into all three.

Here’s a quick example of how timing can completely change your retirement experience… I recently worked with a couple aiming to retire at 65, but with a five-year age difference. This meant one would be retired while the other kept working for five more years, leading to frustration for the working spouse and missed opportunities for shared adventures. I encouraged them to align their retirement dates, and we created a step-by-step plan to make it work. Seeing the excitement and relief on their faces when they realized they could retire at the same time was priceless. Retirement isn’t just about finances – it’s about living the life you’ve dreamed of. If you’re wrestling with retirement timing or planning, let’s chat.

Longevity is changing the way Canadians think about retirement. “What we’re seeing, specifically from the Baby Boomer generation, is that they want to do more,” said Jennifer Rovet, CPRC, who has worked as a retirement coach in Toronto since 2019. “They don’t want to just stop and do nothing. They want to keep having an active life. A lot of them are very fit and healthy, and they’ve got many, many years ahead of them.” Retirement planning means more than making sure people have enough money. And most companies don’t help prepare employees for the non-financial aspects of retirement. Read more from Meagan Gillmore here: https://lnkd.in/exyi9E2x

This morning @ 9:00 am ET on the RichLife Retirement Show, Bruce Steinbrock and I are talking about the $90 Trillion (not a typo) that is set to change hands over the next two decades, potentially making Millennials the wealthiest generation ever. This seismic shift in wealth distribution raises important questions about inheritance, legacy planning, and financial preparedness. We’ll be talking about why: ⇒ Boomers and Millennials need to plan ahead to effectively manage this wealth ⇒ Everyone must develop the skills and principles to responsibly maintain and grow their wealth ⇒ Estate and legacy planning is crucial for both the wealthy and everyone else ⇒ Working with a financial advisor can benefit retirement and estate planning, providing accountability, proactive guidance and helping navigate complex rules and regulations ⇒ Beginning retirement and estate planning conversations early, even 10 years before you want to retire, is critical to putting the appropriate strategies and documents in place We're also answering listener questions from the AskBeau.com mailbag.
