And yet there are people who are trying to gaslight the public that Singapore was merely a remote fishing village over 50 years ago.. Our post office had over 160 years of history, our Straits Times and Police Force over 100 years. We even have bakeries that are about 100 years old. And now we know have Esso who have been in Singapore over 130 years. Singapore has been a thriving maritime trade hub for centuries! Why else would the British want to colonise Singapore? Why else would the Imperial Japanese army go through Thailand and Malaysia to occupy Singapore? For a remote fishing village?? Why would our Chinese ancestors risk their lives to come across the oceans to a remote fishing village??
