RCPA is urging Australians to get regularly tested for STIs amid a significant rise in cases. Despite the rise in STI cases across Australia, testing levels have not notably increased, meaning infections are remaining undiagnosed and untreated, leading to severe health complications and further transmission. Regular STI testing is a simple yet vital step that individuals can take to protect their health and the health of their partners. By prioritising testing, we can combat the rise of STIs and safeguard public health. Read the full #MediaRelease: https://lnkd.in/gyyN5VqW

Why is the UK Parliament's Public Accounts Committee investigating drug-resistant infections? Their 30th Report — “Antimicrobial resistance: addressing the risks” — unites National Health Service oversight with public spending scrutiny, warning that AMR is a “chronic risk to UK health and finances." With 35,000 AMR-related deaths annually and dwindling progress on key targets, the UK risks being unprepared for a superbug crisis. The Committee also flags dangerous policy gaps, including stagnant diagnostic uptake and broken data flows. The verdict is clear: AMR demands urgent, measurable action. Diagnostic innovations like those Cytophenix is developing directly address these issues, providing test results for timely decisions to support and better inform antibiotic use. ⚽ Sidelining chronic liver disease (CLD) in global health policy is no longer defensible #CLD, particularly due to MASLD/MASH, continues to affect more and more of the global population. Data in Sarah Jane O Dwyer’s post below should be enough to re-think how we organise resources, especially the A&E business model. My perspective👇born out of the 12th planned resident doctor strike. https://lnkd.in/eEqUfTR3

Longer A&E waits cost lives — even for patients who don’t need immediate emergency care. Recent data from England shows that among patients requiring non-immediate care: - 1.3% died within 30 days after leaving A&E. - The risk of death increases steadily after 2 hours spent in A&E, even after adjusting for age and other factors. - For a patient aged 20+, spending 12 hours in A&E can increase the odds of post-discharge death 4.6 times compared to just 2 hours. This is deeply concerning and highlights a hidden patient safety risk: inefficient patient flow for lower-acuity cases can have real consequences. We can't keep providing the same service and expect a different outcome. #HealthcareInnovation #PatientSafety #EmergencyCare #VirtualCare #DigitalHealth #IntuVuHealth #HealthTech #PatientFlow #RemoteMonitoring https://lnkd.in/gDCBA_A9
