Some key findings from our research into differential outcomes in legal professional assessments: 💼 Having legal work or training opportunities eases students’ financial pressures and provides a support network and networking opportunities. ⭐ Students’ confidence, the support they receive and how much they feel that they belong or fit has a significant effect on their outcomes. 🎓 Students who achieved better education outcomes tended to be from families with the financial resources and time to support their studies https://lnkd.in/eTrDmE8d

Tomorrow I am running a marathon for this person. For the person that first gave up on being a lawyer because they had no advice and no work experience. For the person that got a place at Oxford only to find that being working-class was an unbreakable barrier. For the person that walked into a law firm with no idea of how the legal profession worked. For the person that dared to keep going even when the odds were stacked against them. A person’s background should never influence what they go on to achieve. But it can and it does. Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not - and I am making it my mission to do something about that. So for every person who has felt overlooked or underestimated or that their goals are out of reach - this race is for you. Let’s support The Social Mobility Foundation and make change once and for all. See you on the start line! 💜🏃♀️ Human Race Ltd JustGiving Birmingham Law Society #marathon #manchestermarathon #ukrunchat #law #legalprofession #birmingham #equalopportunities #valuesdrivenbusiness #socialmobility #community #opportunity

Dear Law Students, How are you doing today? I've grown accustomed to writing to you daily, and I sincerely hope these letters are making a positive impact on your school journey. Today, I want to talk about the power of networking. What is networking, you ask? Simply put, it's your ability to connect and build relationships with others for mutual value. As law students, networking is crucial, and it starts right in your classroom. How many of your classmates do you know? Networking is about building relationships and looking out for: 1. Like-minded individuals who share your goals and aspirations. 2. People who can positively impact your life and career. 3. Those whose lives you can impact as well. The key to connecting with others is to offer value! Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars. Don't say it's too early; you'll wish you started sooner. I recently attended the EBSU Law Alumni (Lagos) Networking Mixer on August 10, 2024, and it was an incredible opportunity to meet amazing people. See the video below.. Remember, networking doesn't happen from home. You must put yourself out there to connect with others. That's all for today. I hope you found value in this letter. See you tomorrow! Ensure that you stay connected 😊 infact, make sure you connect with someone new today. With love, Elizabeth Onyikeigbo #Lawstudents #Networking #Thursdayletter #EBSULawAlumni

Greetings, Recently, many of my peers have sought my insights, prompting me to share them here for the benefit of all. What shaped my journey? You won't find me engaged in moot courts, debates, or scholarly papers. Instead, I gravitate towards conversations with distinguished figures: IFS Officers, Supreme Court Judges, or Ministers. This isn't to disparage the value of debating and mooting, but ponder this: where does true intellect, confidence, and knowledge manifest? In scripted moots judged by advocates, or in dialogues beside Ambassadors with pivotal roles in global diplomacy? Or perhaps, seated next to a Supreme Court Judge, probing into their decisions and reasoning? I frequent exclusive conferences, often the youngest attendee. While scripted moots may be commendable, I prefer pragmatism. Let me assert: while debates hone skills, reality demands more. So, how to navigate this? Communication: Impressions must endure. Your manner of speech, your presence—these are your soft power assets. Networking: "Strength begets strength." In a competitive landscape, building a robust network is paramount. Cultivate connections that open doors. Be distinct: Shun conformity; seek the unexplored path. Innovate solutions, not just identify problems. Pursue your passion: International Relations, Law, and Policy are my lifeblood. I immerse myself in these domains ceaselessly. Mastery in your passion breeds recognition. I’ll be happiest to help in any manner possible, because I paved way for myself and would be grateful to assist. #law #legal #stage #technology #work #empathy #networking #lawyer #development #people #software #network #brand #power #change #streaming #law #legal #innovation #learning #communication #network #creativity #school #civil #lawyerlife #lawyer #lawstudent #lawseekho #lawyers #lawinternship #advocate #successhabits #successhabits #successmindset #lawschool #lawschool #successfullawyer #firstgeneration #firstgenerationlawyer
