I am excited to present a 6.0 CEU training for SCOPE on Trauma-Informed Practice for the Self. This is an opportunity to share the insights and research I learned while serving a practicum with Dr. Trace Fleming-Trice and Self-Care for Advocates (SCFA). Topics include vicarious resilience, the five core principles of trauma-informed practice, the power of hope and community, and intersectionality. Healing is relational and happens through connection. Every group is different; thus, I happily anticipate a unique experience with 12 to 15 people. #WeNotMe #MentalHealthMatters #Biopsychosocialculturalpolitical #TraumaInformed

We’re excited to share that our CEO, Jennifer McKennariey, will be speaking at the Ehlers-Danlos Society’s Global Learning Conference, running from 7th to 9th February! This year’s theme, "Teamwork", highlights the power of collaboration in transforming care and support for those living with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Jen will be joining an esteemed panel of experts during the session, "Collaborative Approaches to Advocacy and Support," to discuss: - The impact of stigma on EDS patients in clinical, workplace, and social settings. - Practical tools for addressing stigma, fostering empathy and providing accommodations. - How clinicians, carers, and employers can work together to create inclusive spaces where EDS patients can thrive. ⁉️Why This Matters: Invisible conditions like EDS are often misunderstood, leading to stigma, barriers, and inequity. This panel will empower participants with actionable strategies to build a more inclusive future for EDS patients and their support networks. 🦓 Be Part of the Movement: The conference offers a hybrid format, making it accessible globally. Join us for an incredible lineup of speakers as we explore innovative ways to collaborate and make an impact. Learning can be challenging for people with 22q-related conditions due to unique needs in memory, attention, problem-solving, sensory processing, and social skills. Speech and language delays, along with difficulties in problem-solving and managing fatigue, add to these challenges. Early intervention and individualised support plans, including sensory accommodations and tools like visual aids and structured routines, can make a big difference. Collaboration between families, educators, and therapists is essential in building confidence, resilience, and social connections, helping each person with 22q reach their full potential. Please help us spread awareness by sharing, commenting, and liking our posts. Also, consider following our socials, where we share regular and up-to-date information about 22q. #22qawareness #raredisease #rarediseaseawareness #differentnotless #lookbeyond #22qresources #22qinfo #allaboutchromosome22 #22qresearch #22qresearchers #22q #22q11 #22q11deletionsyndrome #22qdeletion #22qduplication #22qduplicationsyndrome #digeorge #vcfs #22q12 #22q13 #22qdifferences #22qt

This landed in our Principal Julie Sale’s email inbox yesterday. Such a touching and thoughtful email to receive from one of our students, who recently completed our Professional Certificate in Psychosexual Therapy. ‘Now that the dust has settled and life returns to its usual patterns, I want to let you know how valuable and beneficial I found the course. The syllabus was detailed and of great interest and the learning incredibly valuable. I loved the blended learning, working through the resources when it suited me, with the learning being supported by, and practiced in, the live days, which were brilliant. I loved the group, the group-work, and the diversity of the group, bringing together therapists and medical professionals from lots of different walks of life; this I found personally enriching and professionally beneficial. As I wrote In my reflection on the final module, the course far exceeded my expectations, in no small part due to my fellow students, all of whom were open, engaged, accepting, and respectful. Also Julie, you are an incredible teacher. You are warm, accepting, empathic, clearly skilled and knowledgeable, and you are a great advertisement for the CICS way. You held the space in a way that enabled relational depth to develop and created a safe, adult space to talk about very important aspects of our being, which are often not talked about. This course will live long in my memory, and what I have learned will continue to enable me to provide a space for clients that is safe and accepting.’ https://lnkd.in/efRTed27

We also chat about why a learner’s willingness to participate is actually not a prerequisite to hire an educational therapist. https://lnkd.in/gr52RrV8 #LearnSmarter #LearnSmarterPodcast #KappEdTherapyGroup #MyEdTherapist #educationaltherapyseries #educationaltherapy #edtherapy #et #learning #gettingstarted #education
