The Nature Conservancy’s Post

What if you could turn debt into a better future for the planet? That’s the idea behind sovereign debt conversion projects for nature — and this opportunity just became stronger. We're proud to announce the release of the Practice Standards for Debt Conversion Projects for Nature, Resilience and People. The guide shows how to responsibly structure these projects to maximize biodiversity, resilience and community outcomes. Developed through extensive collaboration across sectors, these voluntary standards help define what “good” practices look like and provide a roadmap for achieving the goals of debt-for-nature projects. Join us as we turn financial innovation into lasting impact for people and nature. Read the standards here: https://nature.ly/4eMY2OF

#Nature is not collateral. The living Earth does not owe anyone a debt — we owe her everything. Debt-for-nature swaps are just the latest mask worn by a system that continues to exploit while pretending to protect. You can’t solve ecocide with the same financial tools that helped cause it. Nature isn’t a line item on a balance sheet. She is the source of all life — not a bargaining chip. What we need is ecological justice, binding protections for ecosystems, and a deep cultural shift that puts life above profit. No more deals. No more greenwashing. Defend the Earth, don’t mortgage it. #StopEcocide #EcocideLaw #RigthsofNature #EcocideIsACrime #PlanetOverProfit #ChangetheSystem #SaveourSeas

Where does the money come from? How does it affect the country, are they just robbing Peter to pay Paul so a company can use their natural resources? Debt is bad. Help enable our neighboring countries to pay off debt and through financial security and strength can directly invest in conservation of our wildlife and key habitat areas in each country.
