🌍 Today is International Mental Health Day 🌍 Let’s take a moment to recognize the importance of mental well-being, not just today, but every day. Mental health impacts every aspect of our lives—from how we think and feel, to how we handle stress, work, and relationships. As an Organizational Psychologist, I see firsthand how crucial mental health is in the workplace. A healthy mind fuels creativity, productivity, and collaboration. Yet, many of us often overlook our mental well-being amid daily pressures. In today’s fast-paced work environment, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But a simple trick can make a big difference. Mindful Breaks. 🔹 What is it? Mindful breaks involve stepping away from work for a few minutes to focus on your breath, body, or surroundings. This short pause can help reset your mind, reduce stress, and boost productivity. 🔹 How to do it? Set an alarm every 60-90 minutes. Take 2-5 minutes to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and focus on your breath. Alternatively, step outside for fresh air and take in your surroundings. Stretch, stand up, and move around. 💡 Why it works: These short breaks reduce mental fatigue, improve focus, and prevent burnout. When you return to work, you’ll feel more refreshed and focused. Try it today—your mind will thank you! #MentalHealthMatters #MindfulBreaks #EmployeeWellbeing #ProductivityHacks #WorkplaceWellness

This week our team worked with a group of newly appointed managers on ‘imposter syndrome,’ which many had reported as being a significant cause of concern regarding their competency and performance in their new roles, ability to effectively manage or ever gain the respect from others in the team. This negative and often cyclical mindset had in turn resulted in them experiencing higher stress levels, had impacted their sleep quality and overall mental wellness. Some admitted to feelings of burnout in their perfectionist quest to overcome feelings of misplaced inadequacy. We worked on a number of strategies to help identify and confront some of the deeply ingrained beliefs they held about themselves and how they could successfully overcome their fear of being ‘found out’ - instead, learning to lean into that feeling. #corporatewellnesssolutions #corporatewellness

Feeling like you're constantly on the brink of exhaustion at work? You might be experiencing workplace burnout. When simple tasks at office start feeling overwhelming and unmanageable, it might be time to pause and assess your mental well-being. Increased irritability towards colleagues or clients, coupled with decreased patience and empathy, can indicate that burnout is taking its toll on your emotional health. Physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach issues, or changes in appetite could also be manifestations of psychological burnout. Difficulty concentrating on tasks that used to come easily to you might signal cognitive exhaustion caused by prolonged stress as well. If you notice these signs persisting over weeks or months, it's crucial to address them before they escalate into severe burnout. Remember, your mental health matters just as much as your physical well-being! What are your thoughts? #burnout #workplacepsychology #stress

The number of employee Glassdoor reviews mentioning the word burnout has reached a new high since the company feedback platform began reporting the figures back in 2016. In fact, figures show that burnout has increased 44% between 2019 and 2024, which is a poor indictment of our collective mental health at work at the moment. From a practical perspective, burnout can lead to heightened workplace tension and employees leaving their companies. And from a personal perspective, it can lead to declining mental health and low mood.
