This #GivingTuesday, Your Support Can Make a Lasting Impact As we reflect on an incredible year at The Andreas Foundation, we are filled with gratitude for the support we’ve received in our short First year. This year, we’ve made significant strides in advancing neonatal encephalopathy research, providing critical resources for families affected by pregnancy and infant loss, and building a community of compassion and hope. Here are just a few of our accomplishments: We launched our Foundation in September and began our fundraising efforts to achieve our critical mission. Established a partnership to help drive our research initiatives with the Child Health Institute of New Jersey We’ve begun our work to provide support and resources to families navigating the devastating challenges of neonatal encephalopathy and infant loss. We hosted our first Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, a powerful event to honor the precious lives we’ve lost too soon. As we look ahead to 2024, we have big plans to deepen our impact: Launching our research efforts to discover new treatments and prevention strategies. Offering even more support and education to families and future doctors through workshops, resources, and community-building events. Engaging our supporters with new fundraising initiatives, including our 5K/10K Walk/Run and more ways to get involved and make a difference, while raising awareness for our cause. Day 4: Fundraising Focus – The AMF 3 Peaks Challenge An incredible and demanding adventure that will see the team climb the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales: 🏔️ Ben Nevis (1,345 meters) – The tallest mountain in the UK, located in the Scottish Highlands. 🏔️ Scafell Pike (978 meters) – The highest peak in England, found in the stunning Lake District. 🏔️ Snowdon (1,085 meters) – The highest mountain in Wales, towering over the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. ...over 3,000 meters of elevation – all in less than 24 hours. It’s a physical test, but the real goal is much greater: to raise crucial funds to support families facing Neuroblastoma. Why this matters: Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that primarily affects children, often those under the age of five. For families impacted by this devastating disease, every bit of support counts. The money raised through this challenge will go directly to helping AMF provide vital financial assistance and emotional support. Did you know that 57 million concussions occur worldwide each year? That’s 1.77 concussions per second. Concussions are 8 times more common than breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries combined. At Concussion Alliance, we've brought together a community of patients, advocates, researchers, clinicians, and passionate students––all working together to address this hidden public health epidemic. As a nonprofit, we couldn't do any of the work we do––55 resources seen by 600,000 people since 2018, continuing medical education for healthcare providers hosted by the American Medical Association, 122 interns from nearly 20 institutions, collaborations with researchers at leading institutions––without the support of our incredible community of donors. We have big plans for how to expand our impact in 2025. We are so proud to have reached over half a million people in the last 6 years, but there are still millions of concussion patients every year who don’t have the support and care they need to heal. Right now, we’re a team of two, and we need to grow our team to be able to reach more patients and healthcare providers.
