It was a great pleasure to host His Excellency Hisham Alsheikh هشام آل الشيخ, Vice Governor of the Digital Government Authority of Saudi Arabia, for a fireside chat at the TINS: Technology Innovation Studio at CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center). During the conversation, his excellency shared insightful updates on the country’s bold journey towards a fully digital government as part of their Vision 2030 goals. Here are some key takeaways: 🚀 Building the Digital Framework Saudi Arabia has established a robust framework—comprising regulations, support systems, spending controls, and modern infrastructure—to drive the complete digitization of government functions. This includes everything from interactions with businesses and citizens to seamless collaboration across government agencies. 📊 Digital Transformation in Action Progress is evident in areas like reducing the need for physical visits to government offices, expediting court procedures, and interconnecting government agencies digitally. The transformation is already making government services more efficient and accessible. 💼 Workforce Upskilling He also highlighted how the Saudi government is not only focusing on digital infrastructure but also on workforce development. Digital skills are being taught from grade school, ensuring they’re affordable and accessible to all. This upskilling extends to the public sector, where experts are being brought in from companies, universities, and organizations to drive change at all levels of government. 📈 Global Digital Leadership With an eye on the UN EGDI Index, Saudi Arabia is rapidly closing in on a spot in the top 5. The country is also contributing to the wider Middle East's digital shift, emphasizing cooperation over competition globally. 💡 Tech Capital Investment The Saudi government is committed to tech capital funding, enabling innovation and fostering a thriving digital economy. 🤝 Engagement Opportunities For anyone looking to engage with Saudi Arabia's digital transformation journey, staying connected to publicly announced initiatives is key. His excellency encouraged collaboration through supporting startups and participating in events like the Global AI Summit, LEAP, and the Digital Government Forum. Saudi Arabia is moving at an impressive pace in pursuing Vision 2030 plans! 🌍🚀 A big thank you to Harvard Saudi Students Association (HSSA) for organizing this impactful event and to the sponsor KAPSARC who made it possible. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the Saudi community in the Boston area and beyond, and to learn about their inspiring work. We would also like to extend our gratitude to CIC for their ongoing support of community engagement in technology and innovation. Suman Lal Abdullah A. DASER'S BRIDGE IS WIDE AND STRONG ENOUGH TO RECEIVE MORE TRAFFIC By Katdapba Yunana Gobum Like many Nigerians, I am aware that the Digital Bridge Institute before now, may have largely remained an organisation on paper without creating the impact it is supposed to make since May 2004 when it was established. To think that the Institute has long existed for 20 years may be sufficient to conclude that much has not been done to publicise its existence and activities over time. That may have limited its influence, to those who should use its services over the years. It is possible there is a sizeable amount of people who appear to have been left behind in appreciating what the Institute has achieved. To have an Institute dedicated for ICT innovation and capacity building for the burgeoning number of youth to find relevance through training and development of their innate capacities should be visible. With training fully funded by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Taraba State University, Jalingo, has benefited from the Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI) for the staff of the institution. Many other such trainings are in the pipeline for individuals, businesses and organisations. But, fast forward to his entrance as President/CEO of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), the profound impact imbued with unprecedented growth, has left many wondering where DBI has always been. It is in this commitment to innovation, that the new-found trajectory of redefining DBI's mandate 'through strategic partnerships with top institutions and tech hubs nationwide', have gained mileage and understanding. 'Beyond the usual traditional boundaries and fostering collaborations with key tech ecosystem stakeholders, Daser David aims to empower students and professionals with cutting-edge skills and opportunities'. This, without doubt, is to ensure that DBI emerges 'as a leader in digital education and technology development, expanding its influence'. Through the new helmsman's transformative, leadership agenda for 'excellence in the digital age', without doubt, the relationships that are built will enable DBI reach heights, perhaps never imagined. Already honours such as the Outstanding Leadership in Digital Innovation and Governance Award from Young Innovators Nigeria have been received. The opportunity for the 10th Anniversary Award Night and Dinner was to acknowledge his 'contributions to advancing Nigeria's technological landscape, particularly in driving innovation and governance in the digital space'. If you have followed DBI since Daser David's appointment, one thing that has happened on the Bridge is the heavy traffic: Every organisation; public or private wants to identify with it. https://lnkd.in/dBECXKHm

The recently published 2024 edition of the #EuropeanInnovationScoreboard #EIS highlighted Ireland's continued progression on the scoreboard. In 2023 Ireland was ranked 9th, while the 2024 edition of the EIS has seen Ireland climb to 7th place overall. The annual #EIS provides a comparative assessment of the R&I performance of EU Member States (and selected third countries) and the relative strengths and weaknesses of their research and innovation systems. Community Enterprise Association Ireland involvement in the RInnoValleys Project funded by #HorizonEurope has given us the opportunity to look closely at Ireland's innovation strengths vis-à-vis regions such as Belgium, Spain, Malta, Hungary and Greece, understanding where the opportunities lie and how CEAI can align with the ambition of #Impact2030 to support Enterprise Ireland funded #enterprisecentres and #innovationhubs across the country. https://lnkd.in/eqztRbgq Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment #DETE Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science #DFHERIS Science Foundation Ireland Enterprise Ireland RDI Hub Platform94 MidlandsIreland.ie CREW Gary O'Meara Siobhán Finn Liam Cronin Noreen Conway LIB QFA PGC Leesa Mc Grath -Feeney Sarah Morgan Niamh Costello

Last week in #Turin, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the European Training Foundation alongside participants from across Europe and its neighbouring regions. We reflected on our journey, assessed the current landscape, and, most excitingly, envisioned the future. Together, we explored a future rich in potential, symbolized by the vibrant colours of the economies predicted to drive #innovation and #progress by 2050: 🌿 Green 🐠 Blue 🏜️ Yellow 📡 Gold 👵 Silver 🏥 White 🎦 Orange Amid these discussions, we asked a pivotal question: 🔎 What skills will be essential for success in 2050? While numerous technical and sector-specific skills were highlighted—alongside those related to digital literacy, safety, and sustainability—one 🔝 skill stood out above the rest: Critical Thinking💡 "Critical thinking is the art of making clear, reasoned judgments based on interpreting, understanding, applying, and synthesizing evidence gathered from observation, reading, and experimentation." In an age of information overload and pervasive #misinformation, the ability to analyse, discern truth from falsehood, form independent perspectives, and communicate them effectively is not just valuable—it is essential ‼️ I look forward to continuing the collaboration with our partners to strengthen education systems, empower skills development and improve youth employability across borders, for a future that is as vibrant and promising as the colours we envision for 2050 🌈 #etf30years #skills4future #education2050 #competitiveness European Commission EU Neighborhood & Enlargement Asian Development Bank (ADB) EBRD EVTA AEFP

💯 The verdict is in. And the Netherlands ranks among Europe's top 5 innovators according to the recently released European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS). 👀 What criteria were the EIS looking at? The EIS report groups countries as Innovation Leaders or Strong Innovators based on EU averages. Since 2017, most EU nations have improved their innovation performance with some fluctuations and things to improve upon. 🦾 What were the Netherlands strongest areas? The three main areas were a strong education system, top research institutions, and a digitally proficient population. However, the country still struggles with low private investment in innovation, which is below the EU average. ✨Overall, the Netherlands continues to strengthen its status as a leading innovator in Europe – and this can be seen here in Amsterdam, from the city’s dynamic startup ecosystem to the groundbreaking research that is conducted at institutions such as the Amsterdam UMC, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and the University of Amsterdam. 🔗Get all the facts here: https://lnkd.in/eU9suncc #DutchInnovators #Top5Innovators #InnovationInAmsterdam #AmsterdamInnovators
