For this month's Gather and Grow, let's talk about one of today's most pressing social challenges. In today's increasingly connected world, digital access isn't just a luxury—it's a fundamental right. Building on our previous session on Digital Literacy, we invite you to join us as we tackle the next crucial challenge: Digital Equity. Our 45-minute session explores digital equity, its distinction from digital literacy, and the critical role technology access plays in today’s society. We will examine how digital barriers such as unreliable internet, lack of devices, outdated software, and limited resources impact vulnerable populations, including job seekers, individuals with disabilities, non-English speakers, justice-involved citizens and those facing socioeconomic challenges. The session will highlight the importance of digital infrastructure, discussing disparities in internet access, affordability, and technology availability. Additionally, participants will explore how digital inequity compounds economic and social barriers, particularly in employment, education, and access to essential services. Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, this session will equip participants with a deeper understanding of digital inclusion efforts and practical solutions to bridge the digital divide. Event Details: Date: Wednesday, February 26, 2025 Time: 11:00-12:00 To join please register by clicking this link https://lnkd.in/gwXPwjNV See you there and spread the word! #gatherandgrow #worksource #digitalequity

We designed a data programme for neurodivergent women. Here's why it's the first of it's kind... (and we won't be stopping anytime soon) 🧠 - It's trauma-informed, taking into account the many lived experiences neurodivergent women have had. - There's a big focus on confidence boosting & resilience - It's the culmination of months of research. Accessibility specialists, collaborating with data and learning experts, to create something genuinely impactful. - It’s delivered in a clear way. So much thought has gone into making the design accessible. There's also a range of learning methods to choose from, such as audio + visual learning. ---- Considering that 57% of employees in the tech industry don't disclose their neurodivergent conditions. This programme was needed more than ever! It's not only helping more women get into tech, but also helping them become more confident with their conditions in the workplace. This programme was specifically for women in Tayside, but we’ll definitely be looking to run more in the near future. 👀 Funders across the UK, we're looking at you, more regions need to support neurodivergent women in tech. 📣 #Neurodivergent #Tech #Inclusivity (Big thanks to all who collaborated on this and made it possible: frank duffy, Núria Fraile-Diaz, Bianca Peel 🌍🌊🌱🎨, Karen Scott)

They say healthcare is a male-dominated field, but guess what? Women in tech are changing the game! Imagine creating tools that empower patients, improve diagnoses, and ultimately, save lives. That's the kind of impact that gets me fired up every morning! But here's the thing: we can't do it alone. We need diverse perspectives to create a healthcare system that works for everyone. #NirogGyan #EmpoweringWomen #HealthcareInnovation

👨👩👧👦 The care economy is bigger than the US pharmaceutical industry and ripe for technological disruption but gets limited interest from VCs. At 3 Sisters Ventures (3SV), we recognise this huge opportunity, with the care space being a core focus for Dalia and me ever since we founded 3SV. I am therefore proud to announce that we are now working with the phenomenal Rachel Drapper on new research that will help improve understanding of the sector—so watch this space! 🔍 At 3SV, we also invest with an impact lens and are on a mission to close gender gaps, including the Gender Leisure Gap. Doing so starts by leveling the playing field when it comes to unpaid domestic work, and tech-enabled care is key in helping us achieve this. #careeconomy #venturecapital
🫂 During London Tech Week, we’re highlighting one of the most overlooked opportunities in innovation in the UK: tech-enabled care. 🇬🇧 The rising demand for elderly care, women’s growing participation in the workforce and changing gender perceptions all underline its potential - both financially and when it comes to impact. However, little is known about it. 🤝 That’s why we’ve partnered with Rachel Drapper on new research to better understand the UK tech-enabled care economy. This month we’ll be sharing a market map of British tech-enabled start-ups operating across the care economy in segments such as ParentTech, AgeTech (i.e. for ageing in and out of the home), end-of-life care, household management and more. And we will also be inviting contributions to our research, so please make sure you’re following our page to find out how you can share your thoughts with us! #VC #careeconomy #londontechweek

ElderTech, SilverTech or AgeTech SilverTech, also referred to as ElderTech or AgeTech, focuses on developing technologies for older adults, addressing unique opportunities and challenges as the population ages. With projections indicating that the number of individuals aged 65 and older will double by 2050, this sector offers considerable market potential estimated at $3.7 trillion globally. However, it faces challenges such as underinvestment, digital literacy issues, and competition from other sectors, making it crucial to tackle these barriers to fully realize its potential.

🌟 🙌 Women in Health Tech: My Journey in Health Innovation 🦾🌟 As a woman in health tech, I know firsthand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with being in this space. Being the only woman around six men at my startup, MoveSmarter Health has taught me resilience, confidence, and the importance of staying true to my vision. MoveSmarter Health is redefining remote patient monitoring and physical health, and it’s exciting to be at the forefront of this transformation. Balancing my role as the CMO of IAF (Instituto Alexander Fleming) — where I lead marketing efforts that impact over 100,000 patients annually — with my co-founding responsibilities at MoveSmarter Health is both exhilarating and demanding. These roles push me to constantly learn and adapt, especially in a field where women are still underrepresented. 💡 For other women looking to break into health tech, here are a few tips: - Believe in Your Vision: Know that your perspective is valuable and that your contributions can drive real change. - Seek Out Mentors and Allies: Having a support system is essential, especially in male-dominated spaces. - Embrace Challenges as Growth: Each obstacle is a stepping stone toward becoming a stronger, more skilled professional. - Surround Yourself with People Who Challenge You to Grow: Being around those who are smarter and bring diverse skills to the table is invaluable for personal and professional growth. I’m incredibly grateful for the brilliant engineers on my team; every day, I learn something new, and together, we tackle challenges to find the best solutions! I’m passionate about encouraging more women to join this field. If you’re curious about health tech or want to connect, feel free to reach out. Let’s build a future where women thrive in every corner of tech! 💪💻 #WomenInTech #HealthTech #MoveSmarterHealth #Leadership #Innovation

As technology evolves at lightning speed, our mission is clear: to ensure that everyone, regardless of their geography or economic status, has access to the opportunities of the digital economy. We are not just aiming to connect the 2.6 billion unconnected people, we are striving to bridge the digital gender divide, address the rural-urban connectivity gap, help the 763 million adults worldwide who lack basic digital literacy skills, and make our youth future ready. In essence, we want to connect every nation, business and individual to the knowledge, resources, and skills required to thrive and prosper. The challenges may seem complex and daunting, but through multistakeholder digital cooperation, we can build a digital ecosystem that is inclusive, sustainable, and forward-thinking. We can enable #DigitalProsperity4All.
