Should health systems hire a Chief AI Officer? It’s definitely becoming a trend, with the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, UC Davis Health, and UC San Diego Health all recently hiring AI leaders. But is it a good idea? On the one hand, it feels easy to be cynical about these roles: ↳ Broad and nebulous mandate ↳ Challenging organizational dynamics (how do they relate to existing technology, data science, digital, and innovation teams?) ↳ Difficult to assess impact ↳ Questions about longevity of the role (will we need CAIOs in 5 years?) But without a role like this, how else do you actually drive understanding and adoption of AI across such large and complex institutions? Given how impactful generative AI is already proving to be and how rapidly it’s progressing, it feels risky to not have a C-level leader driving this full time as a major organizational priority. Personally I’m supportive. While I suspect many of the folks stepping into these roles will struggle to have impact, the once-in-a-generation nature of this technology warrants making the bet IMO. Ultimately it will come down to whether the hiring organizations set the role up for success – i.e. mandate structure, budget, decision making authority, etc. Curious to hear what others think. P.S. Here’s the link to the Cleveland Clinic job posting. It’s worth taking a minute to check out the list of responsibilities – not an easy job... https://lnkd.in/ehzgg2Y4 #healthcareai #genai #healthai #digitalhealth #healthtech #ai

🚀 Hiring in the Early Days of AI When AI initially came out to the general public I was skeptical about. It, but today it’s a huge time-saver for my team and me, freeing us from repetitive tasks so we can focus on creating real value. Now, when I hire, I look beyond skills—I prioritize those who can adapt to new tech and use it to boost productivity. In these early AI days, adaptability and forward-thinking are essential. Here’s to building teams ready to thrive in the future! #AI #Hiring #Adaptability #Innovation

Still hiring humans? The question isn’t just provocative—it’s a reality check. AI is rewriting the playbook for jobs, and it’s only the beginning. Here’s what AI-driven systems bring to the table: 24/7 operation → No sick days, no breaks. Unlimited scalability → Handle hundreds—or thousands—of tasks simultaneously. Cost efficiency → A fraction of what human teams require. Agentic AI systems go beyond automation. They learn from every interaction, refine processes, and adapt to your unique needs. In roles like customer support, sales, and receptionist work, they don’t just assist—they replace. This isn’t a plateau. It’s exponential growth. Businesses must decide: embrace the shift or fall behind. _____________ ✔️ Click "Follow" on the Cohorte page for daily AI engineering news.

Future leaders in AI need to be as versatile as the technology itself, and titles, roles, and reporting structures will fluctuate as your organization evolves. While it does not have to be called a 'Chief AI Officer,' you'll need someone who embodies this rare mix of skills - who can bridge the gap between AI and business strategy... Great insights from David Weldon on cio.com
A deep dive into what it takes to be a Chief AI Officer revealed a blend of technical mastery, ethical foresight, and business acumen. It's clear that the ideal CAIO must navigate the complexities of AI technology while aligning its capabilities with the company's strategic goals. 🤔 My Perspective: Finding someone who embodies this rare mix of skills highlights the importance of nurturing talent that can bridge the gap between AI and business strategy. It's a reminder that the future leaders in AI need to be as versatile as the technology itself, and titles, roles and reporting structures will fluctuate as your organization evolves. https://lnkd.in/ecPTZQUv #hiring #recruitment #talentaquisition #executivesearch #AI #LLM #ArtificialIntelligence #CTO #VPEngineering #CPO #Productmanagement

One question being asked at companies - Do we need a Chief AI Officer? What are the requirements for the same? How does a Chief AI Officer work with the CTO, CIO, CDO, Chief Data Scientist, etc? We hired a Sr VP AI for a Global organization, which is around 1.2 billion, 3 years ago. And today, he is a CTO. It also shows a career path that one can take. Another Product Manager we hired for Simulation products is the Chief Data Officer. When hiring, companies have to look for technology acumen (supervised learning, unsupervised learning, computer vision, machine vision, RWE for healthcare, GenAI, etc) and also skills around Stakeholder alignment, Change Management, and the ability to create a long-term strategy around AI. If you are looking, talk to us and we can share our thoughts on the market situation around AI today. #ai #artificialintelligence #chiefaiofficer #CAIO

I've hired 3 roles in 2024 with the Job Title - " Chief AI Officer ". It's not one size fits all though. Each individual was different based on the context - company size, industry, challenges & strategic goals. You've got 2 overarching themes for this role - AI Technologies & Leadership. That's it. Outside of that the role and best individual to hire will look very different. So organisations shouldn't fall into the trap of thinking this is some kind of defined skillset or qualification. And just because someone has had the 'Chief AI Officer' title before, it may have little bearing on whether they are the right fit for your specific organisation. Ultimately the 'Chief AI Officer' title is mostly just a branding tool for both company & candidate. #chiefaiofficer #artificialintelligence #genai

Tune in for an engaging conversation with Scott Domann, James Nicholas Kinney, Jeremy A. Lyons and myself on the key topic of trust, AI, and hiring tomorrow, Sep 17, at 9 am PT. Register here: https://shorturl.at/Ldy6A Among the registered audience we have talent acquisition and HR leaders, CFOs, operational leaders, compliance and legal expert as well as head of departments. When it comes to using AI in company's everyday operations, particularly high stake operations such as hiring, trust is key: * Would the quality be high enough or would it need constant human intervention? Do we trust it enough to pay for it? * Would the team trust it enough to adjust the work flows? * Would it be compliant? How about the the new regulations?
