A Year of Renewal and Determination As the calendar resets, the change of the year brings with it a profound symbolism of renewal—a chance to recalibrate, refocus, and recommit to the goals we’ve set for ourselves. But with every challenge comes an opportunity to innovate and grow stronger as a team. As we step into 2025, we are filled with hope. New role alert: Solving the mental health epidemic amongst young people, providing FREE care when it’s needed! Our client will soon launch its ground-breaking technology platform to solve the mental health epidemic among the UK’s young people. It will allow adolescents to access free care from mental health professionals. Currently their only choices are a long wait on the NHS system (circa 18 months), or private therapy, that comes with a prohibitive cost barrier. It will host meetings between therapists and young clients, receiving income to pay the therapists fees from four donor pillars. This is a pivotal national mission which will improve the lives of young people and their families, as well as save lives. The company is building a future proof portal to cope immediately with the scale of demand: 400,000 children are currently waiting for help. It can take more than two years for young people to gain access to the mental health care they need, by which time their condition will have deteriorated or worse. The current structure of providing mental health care to younger people needs a breakthrough solution to remove the backlog (some 400,000 young people are on waiting lists for mental health care treatment). It will provide immediate free access to private sector providers through a creative and innovative solution! Their platform will allow children and young adults immediate access to free care from mental health professionals. This care will come from the private sector and the cost will be covered by an innovative range of funding solutions. World Mental Health Day is a moment to reflect on the progress society is making around mental health, and the challenges that persist. Good mental health is achievable. Awareness about the importance of mental health is higher than ever. Proven treatments exist. The market is growing. Yet investment in mental health only remains a small slice of global health financing. Now is the time for change. We need to close the mental health financing gap, which would help nearly a billion people access the care they need. That is the mission of the Coalition for Mental Health Investment, which the McKinsey Health Institute cofounded alongside African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), Clinton Global Initiative, Kokoro , and Wellcome Trust. Together, we will work to transform the lives of people around the world while showing how mental health can be an attractive, viable, and scalable investment opportunity for funders across the full range of public and private capital.
