My #ParkLife on Tour journey is getting more and more interesting now. I've just posted my blog from my interview with Jyoti Hirani-Driver, the interim COO of NATO DIANA. Yes NATO as in that NATO. This is a programme that seeks the best innovators to meet the challenge areas put forward that span topics such as critical national infrastructure, energy, and people. It certainly not all about offensive technology, more about dual-use innovations to help civil and defence scenarios. There is funding involved too, you will be happy to hear, as in 100,000 Euro for phase 1, and up to 300,000 Euro for phase two, to help build the business and innovation up. https://lnkd.in/eu9eMHAE

Strategic foresight has become increasingly important in our rapidly changing world. Once a niche discipline, it is now recognized for its ability to anticipate and prepare for future challenges and opportunities. By exploring possible futures, it helps organizations and governments make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and capitalize on emerging trends, ensuring resilience and long-term success. A recent NATO Defense College publication, “How to do strategic foresight,” highlights key elements of foresight, emphasizing the need to clearly define what it is and isn’t to avoid misconceptions. The guide discusses the benefits of broader foresight applications, such as improved decision-making and preparedness. It also addresses the growing popularity of foresight and stresses the importance of a clear understanding of the discipline. Strategic foresight focuses on understanding a range of possible futures rather than predicting specific outcomes. This approach enhances decision-makers' ability to anticipate challenges and opportunities, leading to more informed and resilient choices. The publication by Miguel Peco-Yeste, part of NATO Defense College’s Strategy Series, clarifies that foresight is about exploring various scenarios based on current trends. This allows for flexible, adaptive strategies that respond to different futures. It outlines a foresight process starting with identifying key drivers of change, such as technological advancements, socio-economic shifts, or geopolitical developments. Scenario-building helps visualize potential futures and informs strategic decisions. The guide also covers practical foresight tools like horizon scanning, trend analysis, and scenario planning—effective methods for non-experts to explore future possibilities and develop resilient strategies. Finally, it emphasizes integrating foresight into decision-making processes to ensure insights translate into actionable strategies and long-term planning. 🔗 Read the full publication here: https://lnkd.in/dnfNDaMj #StrategicForesight #NATO #Defense #PolicyPlanning #FutureThinking
