For Rob Baker, who is our vice president of strategic space protection, his time in the military shaped both his personal and professional lives. Rob served 20 years in the Air Force and supported the Air Intelligence Agency (AIA) and special missions/programs for the Air Force Space Command. Throughout his military career, he was able to develop an extensive background in security as well as meet one of the System High founders. Aside from building a wide security background, the military also helped shape the importance of being a good employee, colleague, and leader. From being an early System High employee, Rob has seen the company go through a lot of growth phases! But one thing that has always remained consistent is the organization’s dedication to its employees and Rob knows that is a key factor that sets System High apart from other companies. “In the early days of System High, servant leadership was simply living up to our core value of taking care of our people. Our founders were all about taking care of the people, and that was a key factor that drew me to System High and has kept me here since 2009. I was known as a very hard worker in the company for many years, then I had a couple of hard years personally and everyone supported me, lifted me up, and frankly loved me. You don’t get that everywhere, almost nowhere. That’s a big part of what we call Burn Blue and that is why we are different.” #SystemHighSoars #SystemHighVets

With the talk of potential Warrant Officers in the Air Force, I would instead offer the two-track enlisted promotion system (one favoring technical and one favoring enterprise leadership). Career Field Managers would dictate what percentage of top ranks would be allocated to each track, but the majority ought to be technical. An E-9 makes roughly the same as a W-3, so the pay is close at the top. The best part is this is executable since it does not require congressional action, so we can save political capital for other quality of life issues. #airforce #military

This post emphasizes the valuable skills that former service members bring to the retail workforce. According to Lukoskie, individuals transitioning from the armed forces to civilian careers in retail offer high-demand qualities such as leadership experience, a team-oriented mindset, purpose-driven mentality, and strong organizational and operational skills. Moreover, the transition presents an opportunity for these individuals to acquire new professional skills like business management, foundational knowledge on profit and loss, sales techniques, and marketing. The combination of military expertise and the chance to develop retail-specific skills can be a significant asset in the retail industry. #veterans #military

Big shout out to my man Ismael Quiles at the 314th Air Force Recruiting Squadron for taking home the gold! “Congratulations on a successful FY24 campaign, Eagles! By winning the Blue Division for the FY, You are 1/4 unit’s that get to claim AFRS’ Top EA Squadron!!! Enjoy the 96 this week… you earned it! 🦅” For context, they compete with over 28 squadrons for that honor. Each squadron is consisted of a commander( executive leader), a senior enlisted advisor( chief of staff), first sergeant(HRBP), Flight chiefs (regional recruiting team managers), recruiters(employees), and a leadership team( operations, training, and marketing managers and directors)that leads and handles a specific region in the United States and overseas. There are roughly 2.5K Air Force recruiters between active duty, National Guard and reserves. To put this in further context, my company, Verizon as a whole has about the same number of recruiters as two squadrons. To my knowledge this is the second time the squadron has won this level of an award since 2022. That is a huge accomplishment, not only to reach the top, but then to consistently stay on top. Now just imagine that the US Army, US Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Space Force, and U.S. Coast Guard all have recruiting organizations as well that handle operations, sales and marketing at large scale for regional and national events. Any company looking to onboard solid Talent Acquisition talent should source military recruiters. These folks typically have boots on the ground door knocking, cold calling, public speaking experience. They are tested and experienced in leading large teams of recruits as well as serving as impromptu career and life counselors. On this Veterans Day, we pause to honor all who have served in the Armed Forces. This day isn't just about recognizing past service, but about reflecting on the enduring impact of the values instilled in every service member. The Seven Army Values - Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage - aren't just words. They're a code that continues to guide veterans long after they've hung up their uniforms. In my journey from an Armor officer to my current role in the tech industry, these values have been my North Star. Loyalty teaches us to stand by our teams and our principles. Duty reminds us of our obligations to our community and nation. Respect fosters understanding and collaboration in diverse environments. Selfless Service encourages us to put the needs of others before our own. Honor compels us to adhere to our moral compass. Integrity ensures our actions align with our words. Personal Courage emboldens us to face challenges, both physical and moral. These values shape leaders who can navigate complexity, drive innovation, and inspire others - whether in uniform or in civilian life. To my fellow veterans: Your service matters. The values you've lived by continue to make a difference. To those who haven't served: Consider how these values might enhance your own life and work. The spirit of service isn't confined to the military - it's a mindset we can all embrace. Today, let's not just thank veterans for their past service, but recognize the ongoing impact of those with a service orientation in shaping a better future for all. #VeteransDay #ArmyValues #Leadership #ServiceNeverStops

Talking to an Airman today: "I used RANGER at (his last base) and it was fabulous." His current base will be getting RANGER soon and he's excited about the prospect. I hear this all the time, but it never gets old. Nothing excites me more than doing awesome things for the greatest folks in the world: USAF Maintainers. Plus, maintainers don't use the term "fabulous" a lot. So that's really saying something. This is because RANGER makes so many processes easier and better. It is good both for the mission and the persons who do the mission. It is designed for maintainers, by maintainers, and with the inputs of literally hundreds of AGE professionals at dozens of bases around the Air Force. We've supported over 60,000 real-world dispatches with the system, at multiple bases, in five different MAJCOMs, and more bases are coming on-line all the time. This is because the reality of it's awesomeness is coming to light. Every base should use RANGER. However, as long as Airmen are dragging around paper dispatch logs and wasting their time hand-jamming that stuff into databases, our job isn't complete. Help us out by getting RANGER for your base. Let us help you! Reach out for more details: harry.stone@stoneacftmx.com

Each year, we pause to honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces, committing their lives to something larger than themselves. Veterans Day is a reminder of the power of purpose, resilience, and the leadership that emerges when service and sacrifice come together. Military service instills a deep sense of responsibility, courage, and loyalty—qualities that inspire all of us to lead with integrity and commitment. Veterans have set an incredible example of how steadfast dedication to a mission and a team can create remarkable results and lasting impact. They teach us that true leadership isn’t just about commanding; it’s about serving, guiding, and bringing out the best in others. I've experienced this consistently when I've had the opportunity to work with them. This Veterans Day, let’s take a lesson from those who’ve served, asking ourselves: How can we strive to be the best versions of ourselves? Whether in our careers, our communities, or our personal lives, we each have a role to play in creating positive change. By embracing resilience, staying true to our values, and leading with empathy, we can make a meaningful difference. To all veterans: Thank you for your service. May we honor your sacrifice by leading with purpose, inspired to make our own impact, no matter where we are. #VeteransDay #Leadership #Inspiration #TeamYulista

Today, we honor the bravery and sacrifices made by all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is a time to express gratitude for the commitment and selflessness of those who have defended our freedoms and protected our nation. To all veterans: Thank you for your service and the immense value you bring to our communities and workplaces. In recognition of Veterans Day I’d like to share the following ways we can support former military employees in our workplaces: 1. Recognize and Translate Military Skills: Take the time to understand how military roles translate to business skills. Support veterans by offering resources that match their experiences with civilian job functions. 2. Provide Flexibility and Support: Be mindful of the challenges that can come with transitioning from military to civilian work life. Flexible schedules and comprehensive mental health resources can make a big difference. 3. Celebrate Their Background: Create opportunities for veterans to share their experiences and leadership lessons. Consider hosting events or starting a veterans’ network to strengthen bonds and elevate their voices. Inclusivity empowers everyone, and as we move forward, let’s continue finding ways to better honor and support our veteran colleagues. #VeteransDay #ThankYouForYourService #WorkplaceInclusion #DiversityEquityandInclusion #DiversityMatters #InclusionMatters #EquityMatters

Our third Cummins veteran for our Memorial Day highlight is Jerry Vest, one of our Maintenance Technicians working behind the scenes to keep all of our offices and facilities running smoothly. 💪 – Service branch: Air Force – Duration of service: 22 years – Highest rank attained: Master Sergeant (E-7) – Commendations: Outstanding Unit Award, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal – How has your service benefitted you as a person? “Being in the service has taught me self-discipline, how to understand the big picture and accomplish small tasks to contribute, and how to mentor new Airmen and help them grow into adulthood.” – How has your service affected your ability to work with military-involved consumers and families? “I don't work with consumers, but I do with providers. Treating others with respect and dignity is very important, as is knowing that every job matters, from transportation to CEO. Teamwork is very important in the military but also in the private sector. You have a role in a much bigger mission, and you have to realize that in order for the mission to be carried out.” #MemorialDay2024 #CumminsVets #ProudOfOurVets #SaluteToService #HonorOurHeroes #ThankYouVeterans
