We’re excited to welcome Bryant Chen, to the Slope team! Bryant was a Staff Data Scientist and Tech Lead/Manager at Brex where he led the Credit Science team, responsible for the credit risk models and automated underwriting systems. He was Brex’s 2nd data science hire and built from MVP to Brex’s current underwriting system. He scaled the team from 2 to 9, managed the team, and set the vision and roadmap for automated underwriting. He built mission-critical projects such as forecasting default rates and card merchant classification. Prior to Brex, Bryant was an AI Researcher at IBM, with 6 papers and 2 best paper awards at AI conferences, and earned his PhD in Computer Science from UCLA. He was highly recommended by our friends at Brex with many saying he was the #1 person they worked with there in terms of impact. Welcome, Bryant! ⚡
