We applaud the European Commission's decision to rethink the #SEP regulation, news of which broke last night. While we share the legislation's aims of increasing transparency around SEPs, reducing transaction costs and facilitating licence agreements on #FRAND terms - and are committed to them as a patent pool operator - we have always believed that in its current form the regulation jeopardised Europe's global leadership in connectivity R&D and standards-setting, while potentially imposing additional costs on European SMEs to the benefit of large technology implementers. As the Commission now considers its next steps, we stand ready to share the insights and experiences of the SEP licensing market we have acquired over the 40+ years of Sisvel's existence.
