It’s time for another inspiring interview with one of our 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 in #Europe! This time, we’re excited to introduce Carlos Zammit from #Malta. As professional career, I am an associate director at KPMG Malta working within the external audit function and specialize is local private enterprise businesses. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗔 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿/𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲? ACCA is not simply an examination body or a university. Hi there, After one incredible year at KPMG Finland, I’d like to share some of the key lessons and experiences I’ve gained as a software engineer. This journey has not only shaped my career but also changed the way I approach both work and life. Here are a few key takeaways: 1️⃣ Family comes first This was one of the first lessons I learned in Finland. No matter how ambitious we are in our careers, it’s essential to remember that our relationships with loved ones are at the core of everything we do. Balancing work and personal life is something I’ve come to value deeply. 2️⃣ Take ownership, dive deep Success in any field isn’t just about hard work. It’s about owning your responsibilities, going beyond surface-level understanding, and truly mastering your craft. This mindset has helped me grow both professionally and personally, allowing me to take on challenges confidently. 3️⃣ It’s not about technology; it’s about people In the tech world, we often get caught up in the latest tools and trends, but what truly matters are the people behind the technology. Building connections, understanding the needs of others, and working as part of a team is what drives real innovation. 🌟 Today at the EY Malta Future Realised conference, the EY Malta Attractiveness Survey shed light on a crucial point: education is at the core of Malta’s long-term attractiveness to investors. But this brings up some deeper questions: - Are we truly preparing our students for the challenges of the real world? Are our syllabi building the skills needed for them to thrive in fast-changing careers, or are we simply ticking boxes? 📚🔍 - Critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship are often discussed as key areas to invest in—but are we doing enough? Are our students being molded to hit the ground running when they start their careers, or are we missing something? - One of the biggest obstacles seems to be the digital world itself. While digital skills are essential, how do we ensure students are not spending so much time with their heads buried in screens, passively consuming social media, that they miss out on real-world experiences and opportunities for innovation and leadership? 📱💡 - Education doesn’t start or end in the classroom—it’s an ongoing process shaped at home, in our communities, and in the way we train and develop future leaders. To truly set them up for success, we need to ask ourselves: Are we investing enough in education? In training? In creating well-rounded individuals ready to lead? - How can we balance the tech skills they need with the empathy, creativity, and critical thinking the world will demand from them? EY Northern Ireland is delighted to announce that it has selected Ebrington Plaza in Derry/Londonderry as the location for its new Northwest regional office.   The office in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area will play a crucial role in EY’s strategy to expand its regional presence and will be a key driver in delivering EY’s market-leading services for clients. This exciting move reinforces EY NI’s 2023 commitment to create 1,000 new jobs in NI over the next five years, which will double the total EY NI headcount. EY expects to commence occupancy in the second quarter of 2025.     The Northwest region is known for its diverse business landscape and offers ample opportunities to work with leading indigenous and international businesses, entrepreneurs and public sector organisations, as well as access to world class talent from its educational institutions.
