The Drake equation [1] presents a probabilistic framework to estimate the number of active, communicative extraterrestrial civilizations within the Milky Way galaxy. It factors in variables such as the rate of star formation, the fraction of stars with planetary systems, the number of planets capable of supporting life, and the probability of life emerging on those planets. Ultimately, it illustrates how a sequence of seemingly improbable events can converge to create extraordinary outcomes. In many ways, building a successful startup mirrors this equation. The path from inception to becoming an industry leader is filled with daunting challenges, and yet, with the right combination of vision, execution, and talent, a startup can emerge as one of the few "habitable" entities in a competitive ecosystem. Among those, only a select few will truly evolve into sustainable, thriving organizations — those that will "hold life." Consistency is key. Find the things you truly enjoy doing that if you did them consistently over the next 10-20 years, it almost guarantees success. This is exactly what I’ve been doing since I became interested in VC back in 2018. It took me 3 and a half years to land my first role in venture, and now that I’m 3 years in, my goal is to create unique ways to add value to this ecosystem daily for the next 20+ years. When I say that I believe that the job of a VC is to serve others, I really mean it. We serve founders. We serve LPs. We serve our colleagues. Being a servant of this ecosystem is what has brought me success so far, and I’m committed to consistently doing the same for the rest of my career. Call to Action: Find the people you feel called to serve, and be consistent in your actions to add value to them. You got this 🙏🏿

5 Big Predictions for 2025 2025 is shaping up to be a fascinating year across tech, venture capital, and real estate. Here’s what I think we’ll see: → The IPO market is back We’re seeing strong signals with late 2024 IPOs like ServiceTitan. More liquidity is on the horizon—great news for IPO-ready companies and VCs. → A venture capital reset The boom of the last decade is over. Many smaller and corporate VC funds won’t survive, leaving only the most resilient players standing. → Selective capital inflows Paradoxically, we’ll see new capital entering the venture, but it’ll flow to top-tier managers, not everyone. → ESG backlash and opportunity Expect pushback on ESG and impact investing, but climate and energy transition remain huge opportunities—it’s all about framing. → Real estate gets a new king Tech-heavy sectors like data centers and cold storage are taking over, reshaping real estate markets and talent flows. As a founder, it doesn’t have to be lonely forever. Sure, it’s lonely early on as your vision is most likely unseen, and you’re floating in a big blue ocean.
