One of the significant benefits of our peer selection process is the familiarity and 'trust' that's built almost immediately when we're meeting candidates for the first time. When a safety professional is talking to another safety professional, the walls come down, conversation doesn't just flow, it opens, revealing far more about someone than within a traditional recruiting discussion. Because of this, we learn much more about a candidate than other recruiters will. We build a relationship with them and share 'safety' related stories, successes, and even frustrations. What we have created is far more than a 'process' or interview, it's a connection that leads to informed decisions and lasting business relationships. In aviation, law, medicine, engineering and many other high-end professions, ALL use the peer-to-peer model. It makes perfect sense and now we've applied it to the safety profession. Safety is a dynamic role that's constantly shifting and changing, the only way to truly understand a safety professional, is to know and understand their world from within. If you are looking for a senior safety professional, then talk to a company that actually knows the profession - https://lnkd.in/gV728T6m

A question/debate for all our safety professionals out there. I get asked often ‘My company does not allow workers to complete highrisk tasks like work at heights or confined space entry, those tasks are completed by contractors. Do we need a policy for those tasks or can the contractors provide their policy and we stipulate in the contractor management policy that we ensure that Australian compliance is met and followed and review their policy for verification that they meet the legal controls’? What are your thoughts on this?

Looking doesn't mean seeing, supevision doesn't mean control. Sometimes the management is perplexed why the rules are not followed at the site, it seems that there are instructions and training has been completed and supervision at the site is regular, but the customer still sends photos with violations. Answer is very simple. employees who monitor the production of work must be able to “see” violations and try to correct them. A safe approach is the key to organizing site safety. What is also important when an employee on site signals management about site's need for materials, tools and time. The management is not omniscient in order to know exactly what a particular employee needs at a given moment at site.
